replaced the front pinion seal and crush washer on my 2000.
reused the same bearing and the carrier is still in the housing.
got a bit carried away on the breaker bar and wound up with 21-22 inch pounds of moving torque driving both the pinion and carrier.
is that too much for both?

the book states 15-30 for new bearings, for old bearings add 1/2 lb to the pre disassembly reading. which of course I didn't' do.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Just guessing here. But the old bearings, before disassembly would have been slightly worn and very well seated from use. So the torque needed to move them would have been lower. Hence, adding a little more torque upon re-assembly to make sure everything is in spec. I think, in your case, I would leave it right where you have it set. Drive on. You're doing fine in my humble opinion.
