I'm upgrading to a higher amp alternator, and searching for any information on upgrading from one v belt to a 2 v belt set up on an '89 2.9L B2. RJM Tech sells the 2 v belt pulley and their information says one belt will only work up to 95 amps, then it'll slip, so more than that needs two belts.

I'm doing searches online, but haven't really come up with any real good solid info on this. Is this normally not done when upgrading to higher amp alt?

Any direction will be greatly appreciated.

Edited: I think I found my answer... If I realign my power steering pump to the outside pulley instead of the middle pulley, all accessories will work, now just have to figure out how to do that. I hate posting something looking for info I can't find, then figure it out, but it seems that's the only way I find my answers. lol.

The AMC 360 V8 used dual alternator belts. They are supposed to be a matched set. If AMC used something extra, then it was needed. :D

Is there any applications of a 2.9 that used a serpantine setup? (like maybe an Aerostar?)

They have a lot more bite than a v-belt.

There are no 2.9L serpentine belt engines that I know of. It would almost make sense, but no one seems to think so.

I sometimes think us 2.9L guys get the shaft on most of the upgrade engine stuff.

I ran a 200 amp alt on a single V belt and it was fine, I think you'll be ok
