hey there got a 87 ranger 2.9L

the truck has been sitting for a few months now. I swapped transmissions from a fm 145 to a mazda 5 speed.

the truck started once i let it run for about 15 mins. and turned it off. now the truck wont start at all. Ive got a test light and have power going to the starter, solienoid and to the ignition module on the back of the distrubutor. i swapped starters too and still same thing happens

The truck wont crank over just makes the solienoid click. like a loose batt. connection. checked all my grounds and they are fine. im thinking its the stater in the distrubutor that has gone. just wondering if anyone else has had this type of thing happen to them. it seems like thats the last thing in the line of things before this truck will crank over again.

thanks for any help

Nothing in the distributor would keep the truck from trying to start (turn over) you either have a loose connection, a bad starter, or something not aligned right in the transmission. It could be the starter solenoid is going out and not kicking the gear out like it's supposed too, or you could have the starter in crooked or not tight enough and it's jammed on the flywheel.

sounds like battery went dead.

like the alternator wasnt charging while it was running so it was just running off the battery.
