Did you ever get the jerking fixed ? My 87 is doing it less after cleaning and re-setting computer, but still does it whenit warms up. I'm afraid to take it out of town or highway speeds.........

Y'know, I had EXACTLY the same problem in my Ranger on the highway, so brief I almsot thought it was my imagination. Traded to a Bronco2 for family size and you know what else? I moved the alternator over because I had just redone the brushes. After a couple of weeks the Bronco 2 did the same thing! When I ran the engine and disconnected the battery, my truck died- bad diodes. I put in a whole new alternator and have had two years with no recurrence.....my poor Ranger got crushed at the wreckers for that oversight
