I recently purchased a 1995 ranger with 2.3 M/T. The engine starts and runs fine, but until the engine warms up, it bogs down with every gear shift(almost like missing a gear... like going from 2nd to 4th without getting the speed necessary). once the engine gets to operating temp, everything is fine. I have no MIL and ECT sensor is new. When I unplug the MAF, I have the same symptom, except it doesn't go away. I also have an erratic high idle upon startup. I dont know if the issues are related. Any leads on where to start looking is greatly appreciated. I also tried a new IAC and it made the erratic high idle worse.
