i have the chance to get a 2.3 duratech out of an 03 ranger or an 97 4.0 engine, i know i need the wiring harness and computer to do the swap, and was planning on using the original 5 speed behind the 2.3 in the 89, any ideas, suggestions or tips and what engines would bolt to this trans, check tech and didn't seem quite sure what would go with the original trans
thanks

the 2.3 would bolt up...and you will need the dash from the 2003 or the 97 to make them engines work

No, the 2,3 will not bolt-up the 2.3DOHC does NOT use the same bellhousing as the "Lima" engine that you have in your '89.

The 3.0 and 4.0 have different bolt patterns than your transmission.

If you do any engine other than another Lima 4 cyl, you'll need the transmission too.
