I have an '86 2.3 EFI Ranger. When I first got it I didn't think the temp gauge worked so I hooked up some aftermarket mechanical gauges and it still never gets above 160°. I've put two new 195° T-stats in with the same result. The heater works great though like the truck is up to temp. When I got the truck the metal heater hose parts were rusted off and pouring so I just ran two rubber heater hoses. My question is could I have put the tee for the intake water on the wrong hose and that be causing the low temp reading? Which hose should it be on? The truck runs terrible when cold but I haven't noticed any external icing around the throttle body or intake.
