My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
I don't care what Off Road Mag says about how the B2 does off road. Mine stays on road. And if the B2 does half as well as the Ranger does when the road ends, well the B2 will keep going.
thats why they suck, shit that happens on road

off road they rule. like cj territory stock for stock ime.

hold on... first, an awd talon is NOT a 4x4 in any aspect and cannot be ranked for the crappiest 4x4 ever, and if it qualifies, i nominate the 3 cylinder NON turbo firefly...

an awd talon is a track car designed for on the road traction, not dirt/mud traction, and as for the tempo welded together, again, disqualified! you can't put heavily moded vehicles that aren't vehicles any more...

i would say the amc eagle would be much worse than the bII

Different kind of offroad, but they do make a decent rally car.

Actually there wasn't a "Best" list. They rated the 3 worst by their stock set ups. They knocked the 28 ttb, the weak in all aspects 2.8 carb engine and the lack of sleeping area? :icon_rofl:

I didn't get a Ranger ext cab this year cause I wanted somewhere to take a nap!

What's it matter? Everything in stock form should be on the list.

I've slept in mine plenty of times! Of course, alcohol was involved probably...

still not a 4x4 though...
For the "dirt/mud traction" they do they are better than a 4x4. And like I said, it is a different arena from what is commonly considered 4x4 turf.

With stock tires and stock engine the D28 is a non-issue.

With stock tires the 2.8 is a non-issue. It is a darn tough engine which I consider a plus. Mine was far from fresh and still got around fine with 3.73's and 235's (which are quite a bit bigger than the original tires too) To further kill that point, '86+ BII's also came with a 2.9 that had more power. Only the first two years had the 2.8.

Aside from being one of the most popular offroading platforms known to man, what earned the CJ5 its spot?

Here is the exact wording in the article for the CJ5:

"The Jeep CJ5 is probably one of the worst Jeeps to drive, because nobody over 5 feet tall can ride in it comfortably. None of the tubs were galvanized like the Wrangler, so solid rust-free body panels are almost nonexistent. The model 20 rear differential came with the dreaded two-piece axle-shafts that break if you even think about venturing out in the dirt. Most CJ5's leak oil from the Dana 300 transfer case unless, of course, they're out of oil. The 4.2L straight-six was good, reliable engine unlike the underpowered 304 V-8 that came in some CJ5s. Although very capable off road, the CJ5's short leaf sprung wheelbase make for white-knuckle driving at highway speeds. When you pair that with the interior room of a glove box, it's not a Jeep we would ever want."

Oh, and the writer of the article is Agustin Jimenez if ya want to send him a thank you note!

Now that list is some funny shit.

Those are three of my favorite off road vehicles ever.
I mean really?
To include a cj5 on that list?

What was he smoking?

Not to mention the tiny and maneuverable samurai and the cheap yet capable bronco ii

My credo
the grey-t escape
dad breifly had a B2 with a 2.8/4 speed. was terribly anemic. i wouldnt mind having one with a 4.0 & M5OD D35 & 8.8 im sure it has the same issues that all short-wheelbase vechicles have, the "bronco-hop" over highway seams, how quickly you can get into a unrecoverable spin in 2wd (had that happen in a CJ7 jeep) but worst 4x4? hardly, so many more out there quailfy, i nominate quadra-trac jeeps! my CJ7 wasnt quadra-trac, but in the winter it was the worst daily-driver, the 4wd was fine, but even with the hard top it was nearly as cold outside as it was inside, i even tried undercoating the interior and using carpet underlayment under the factory replacement carpet, crappy 4 speed, 258 straight six the my '88 2.3 four would run circles around. i would have much rather had a B2 than that jeep. id say the amc eagle would be in the running also.

The simple fact that the CJ-5 is on that list shoots their credibility to hell.
That was my thought, but with the Samurai added in too.

really?
wow
i figure its because of its High C.O.G. and dana 28 lol
That was my thoughts as well. Offroad it worked well, but some may attempt to drive them like sports cars on the road.

The AMC Eagle transfer case is a selectable AWD case, not a 4WD case.

but honestly, i don't see my as tipsy now... much less w/ those little bitty tires and stock suspension. b2's are tiny on stock stuff!!! i don't get it... b2's are not the worst stock 4x4.

not at all. i've said it a thousand times on here. i followed by buddies locked cj on 35's with 4.56's all throughout high school in my b2. i got stuck ONE TIME trying to go through a hole in 2wd b/c i'd already done it in 4wd. never broke anything. only scrapes and dents on the body

my dad did roll my b2, back before he gave it to me. he went off the shoulder, overcorrected and tipped it over on it's side.
