Your Local Machine Shop Cost For Diesel Adapter

Hi guys, I'm looking to soon do a TDI, or v2203 swap into my ranger for mpg.

Basically, I just want to know how much your adapter costed you to get fabbed locally.

Adapters run ~1k-1.5k, and I want to know if that's what I would pay locally, or if that's what you paid locally for your machine shop to do it.
I want to save money if I can, cause why not

Probably not too far out of line, I could see the three pieces hitting a couple hundred bucks each.

Plus hardware, plus starter... I doubt you would save much having it made.

If you had the measurements you could draw it up in draftsight (free drafting program) and have someone burn it for you.

Or you could pay the shop to draw it up.

Not know how exactly it is constructed the thicker part could possibly be made by stacking two pieces of plate. If you have to mill it and they have to figure everything out it is going to be $$.

I have done basic parts like this way and it is pretty cheap. A 3/8" thick ring for my transfer case was $14 for machine time and material. (the black thing)

Oh okay , I’ll try that. I know it’ll be made out of inch thick t-6 aluminum , and it’ll be as big as the transmission face. You can check out that link , it gives you a couple messurments of each plate , as well as the overall shape

Wait... does anyone know if the adapter plate can be made out of thick plastic ? Like that black piece the guy above me has? Or does the face get to hot and melt ?

It would break from the torque, not a heat issue
And thats a metal ring not plastic

Before venturing further have you decided on a transmission?
Diesel and gasoline engines use different ratios for best power and MPG

And automatics after 1994 need a computer to run them, and computer needs engine sensors for shift points

I have not decided on my Caitlin Jenner. I’m up for any 4wd tranny tho bc im doing a sas here. So if you have a suggestion ,I’m open. My Jenner will likely pulled from a yard btw so.

1" thick is getting pretty thick, especially aluminum.

I’m just saying inch thick because that’s how big others’ are , Im not sure if it can be thinner

You could buy one, see how much for local shop to copy it, use the copy and then sell original.
You would need to find correct starter motor replacement, thats probably $200-$400 of the cost of the adapter kit
