The wonderful world of My A4LD The second!

ok When the Transmission is cold. It doesn't Like to go into gear(all gears). It just sits there sometimes. Bringing the rpm up slightly will after a few seconds cause the tranny to go into gear. You can hear what sounds like to me a hydraulic pump starting to engage and then its in gear, No slippage once in gear.

And Until it warms up it can fall out of gear (3-5 minutes) if you take your foot off the pedal.

Oh and the fluid is above the line for max fluid when warmed up.

Once the transmission is warm it acts perfectly.

Is it dying? Is it a economic repair job? should I just go find another?

Get a screen type filter for it. a cloged filter wont let cold thick fluid through the filter eleament, if it doesent help, the valve body or the pump is to blame.

AH but the question really is - what is clogging the filter ??

Used transmission from a donor truck Unknown miles The donor truck was drivable (but a rust bucket) before I stripped it. Fluid and filter were changed when I swapped this one in. It has just about 30k on it since I put it in. The fluids still clear bright red and smells fine.

I swapped out my old transmission due to a blown front seal. It is currently sitting in my back shed. If I was to pop it open and look to see what condition its in. what would I be looking for? Other then Obvious damage.

Good day people. This morning as I pulled out of my laneway the tranny made some what sounds like hydralic motor in distress made a clunk and the transmission fell out of gear and stayed out of gear.

Now if I am extreamly patient it will go into gear with the rpm up some but will not stay in gear as soon as you let off.

Is this torque converter?

Kinda important I get a answer today cuzz this is a work vehicle I need to get it fixed asap or get it to a trasmission shop so someone tell me what i am looking at to get it fixed.

Line pressure. bad pump, or valve body. unknown miles, bad line pressure, and most likely bad one bearings. I think its time for a rebuild and new TC.
