I was looking for a 03-06 Chevy 1500, but this guy has caught my eye. What can you guys tell me about the FX4 package in the F150's? Just skid plates and shocks? Sure is a sharp looking truck.

I'm new to the haggling thing, what kind of offer would you make on it? I may go take a look this weekend if I'm not busy.

Also could somebody carfax that guy for me?

I wouldn't pay $18k for a truck with 45,000 miles on it. Considering that you can get a brand new truck for a little more than that.

That's a nice rig man. IMO, I would MUCH rather drive an F-150 then a 1500. I think you just get more truck for your buck. The FX4 gives you lots of goodies in the cab, better looking wheels and yes, better shocks and skid plates. The price of vehicles varies so much from state to state, it’s hard to believe. That same truck in Seattle would sell for at least 22k. If I were you, I’d try to knock it down to $16,500. You might want to look at the “super crew” 4-door also. It’s nice to have that space.

Yep, it's amazing how much of a difference in cab room you get when you go from a ext cab to crew cab. It's a world of difference.

Have you looked at the price of a new FX4???? Good luck finding one for a little more then 18k. They MSRP for like $36,500. After taxes, doc's, lic, and financing, you're looking at roughly $43,000 depending on your credit and what kind of interest rate you get.

They have a link to a carfax like thing on the page for the truck.
Its been in 1 accident back on 06/18/2006. you might wanna try to get the specifics about the accident and maybe crawl over it to check the repairs. from the outside, it looks good, but thats pictures on the internet.

D'oh, didn't see that :icon_twisted:

I'll have to check and see what the accident was, if it was nothing major at least I should be able to get a good chunk knocked off the price for it.

I would not buy it becasue it dose not have a stick for the 4wd its that dumb turn dial.

FX4's are just luxury 4x4...I have never ever seen someone use a brand new truck for what it's made for other than myself and the local construction companies. If I were you though, i'd talk him down a lot lower than that, considering it's been in an accident.

I agree. For most people, the FX4 is a status symbol thing. I'm sure 90% of people that own 4x4's in general, don't ever use them at all. It's more of a novelty then a requisite.

Most Fords all have the turn dial or push button... I've never actually seen a new f-150 with a manual transfercase :icon_confused: maybe I'm not looking very hard...

Sides for a dd you're not gonna care about 4wd much anyway...

I'll willing to bet it gets off road seeing where he lives, lots of good trails up there (UP of Michigan). Not far away they can get 240" of snow in a Winter.

I saw a Mark LT with a loaded up 20 year old tandam axle gooseneck livestock trailer in tow the other day. Sometimes I am stunned at how the people treat their new trucks, at least try to keep it looking decent for a couple years...

FX4 gets you stickers, grille, shocks, grille, and some changes in the interior. Nothing drastic, but very nice upgrades anyway.

Given, you could probably talk down the price on this one. He's talking about the price of a NEW FX4. You said you could get one for a little more than 18k. But he's right, they cost over 40k.

Your right, a lot of newer trucks and SUV's have them, I just like the sick for 4wd, and manual windows and 5 on the floor less things to go wrong, imo.
