Would you buy this for a DD? (could also use a carfax)

Your right, a lot of newer trucks and SUV's have them, I just like the sick for 4wd, and manual windows and 5 on the floor less things to go wrong, imo.

I've been driving vehicles like that since I got my license, had one car that had power windows and that's about it. They've all been sticks.

I just think it's time to move to something nicer.

I'll willing to bet it gets off road seeing where he lives, lots of good trails up there (UP of Michigan). Not far away they can get 240" of snow in a Winter.
Dave

200" is a light year up here. Granted I don't need a 4x4, there's some days where I just plain can't get out because of the snow. Had one day this spring, got a late snow of over a foot, I couldn't make it up my hill no matter how hard I tried. Took my dad's truck and walked right up it.

I don't plan on going out bombing down the trails, but yeah it's going to get scratched up hunting and stuff. I'm hoping that the accident that it was in was something very minor that will still let me knock a bunch off the price.

The stick only controls the transfercase, the front hubs are vacuum actuated when you pull the lever. They are leaps and bounds better than the system they tried in the Rangers during the late 90's.

I got a stick in my '02, my brother has a knob in his '97, they both work fine.

Given, you could probably talk down the price on this one. He's talking about the price of a NEW FX4. You said you could get one for a little more than 18k. But he's right, they cost over 40k.

I never said it had to be an FX4...4x4 nowadays is more of a commodity then a necessity. I'm sure some people actually do need it though...

I agree. For most people, the FX4 is a status symbol thing. I'm sure 90% of people that own 4x4's in general, don't ever use them at all. It's more of a novelty then a requisite.

I'm not sure how much snow you get where you live. When I lived in California I had the same thought. It snows half the year where I am now. You can bet people who own 4x4s out here use them. Infact, it is hard to sell a 2wd truck out here, whereas in the states that don't get snow its not as difficult. But I agree on the FX4 sentiment.

Uh, they don't look any different than other F150 i've seen, except for a sticker...

They have small stuff, hardly anything to consider it a luxury package, just like a tweak to the XLT package. Usually they have color keyed bumpers with a black grille, and a neater looking instrument cluster, small stuff like that. I think it really dresses the truck up.

i like the stx package can get power stuff if you want, and still get rubber floors(mines manual lock, windows, rubber floors etc)

1 step from base model, get you 4 cupholders(in regualar cab) vs 2, and pockets in the doors, and painted bumpers

Like I said..."luxury" package. I'll show you a picture of my old man's F150 later. I can't get on photobucket here at the shop.

I called the dealership yesterday, the truck had hit a deer. He didn't know what had been replaced or fixed from the accident, I might go take a look at it on Saturday. There is also a nice crew cab GMC Sierra that I'm going to take a look at, really don't have much of a brand preference.

Yep, it's amazing how much of a difference in cab room you get when you go from a ext cab to crew cab. It's a world of difference.

Its actually not THAT big of a difference. Plus all of the crew cabs you find will have that 5.5 ft midget bed. That doesn't work imo because I work out of my trucks. Plus throw in a tool box and you're down to 3.5 ft of bed length.

My biggest concern is can I fit a 7 foot fishing pole in the bed without bending it (and I WILL be bringing one with me to make sure) :icon_twisted:

I get by just fine with a 6 foot bed right now, I don't think losing the other 4" is going to kill me.
