My credo
If it ain't broke...fix it before it does.
I just rebuilt the 1 barrel carb on my '83 2.0 followed directions to a T and was very meticulous in my rebuild, it is my first though. Carb is just flooding the engine, dumping gas when you hit the key. No leaks, just dumping from the top. Double checked all elec connections and vacc lines. Took me all day yesterday. This is my daily driver I need it Monday but would like to get it going today. Any suggestions?:icon_confused:

Float is hanging or the float needle is binding. Also look for any bit of small garbage in the float needle seat. Anything the thickness of a dog hair will hold it open enough to flood.

No matter how you look at it you are going to have to open it up and see what is interfering with the float.

Ended up tearing it apart 2 more times before I found a video online of a guy rebuilding the exact carb. I'm sure glad I have internet in the garage. I watched the video and got it going. Runs great now. Thanks for the only reply Panama!

Carb issue

On my 2150 motorcraft, I had trouble also but I think my problem is the shaft that the float pivots on. It doesn't stay down anymore even keeper snapped.
