Woah Black Betty, the Danger Ranger!

Smart thinking making them bolt on.

Those certainly aren't the factory style lower mounting points on those shocks. I'm not positive... but they interfere with the front axle shafts.

Really? I used Rock auto to find the part numbers and looked them up a bunch of places. The Bilstein's are supposed to fit the my truck. The Red/Black are supposed to fit the rear and are load assist shocks, found the part numbers the same way.

That is exactly what the difference would be... I thought it was a 4WD.

False alarm!

Please continue with your regularly scheduled joy concerning the arrival of your new parts!

Hahaha! Phew, you had me going there for a minute! While I've considered doing a 4x4 swap especially since I have a donor I don't think now is the time. If I do it I want to go full SAS swap and I don't have the time money or facilities to do that right now. It's kind of a long term pipe dream. Unless someone buys my 4.0 motor/trans etc. I'll probably rebuild both with some custom internals with the idea of upgrading. I'm also interested in possibly just doing a straight 4.0 swap for now, but I'd have to source a 2wd transmission for the 4.0.

So, I got the quote today from the shop to do the re-gear and locker install for my new electronic locking diff. It's about $1100 which includes gears, bearings and lube etc. I'm just providing an Axle and the locker. I feel like the quote is a bit on the high-side, but this guy has been recommended to me by dozens of people any time the word differential is brought up in a gearhead conversation around here.

I'd rather pay a pro to do it right then screw it up myself and I'm just not meticulous enough to do this I think.

It's probably cheaper then doing it twice...

Doing a regear is quite a PITA. There is a lot of assembly and disassembly getting it right. The quoted price is not surprising.

If you are interest in seeing what is all involved, check out either Eric The Car Guy or ECTG1 (same guy, different channels) on youtube. He does a complete tear down and regear on the Ford 8.8. It’s several videos and very enlightening.

Oh boy George oh boy oh boy!

This picture still begs another question...

Are the coil overs for the rear? Because the top mounting point on the rear shocks should be an eyelet.

I'm seriously not trying to ruin your excitement...

I've seen part of the teardown. I think with my friends' help we could probably do it all, but I'd just rather know it was done right. My understanding is that this guy only does diffs and he's the absolute best.
