I looked and seen my 1994 2wd ford rangers 3k pounds bascially, after reading online about snatch blocks doubling your pulling capacity and seeing harbor freight selling a 3000 pound winch for 70$ in reality could i get away with pulling myself if i was stuck with a snatch block being it should be a 6k pound pull with the block on or would that burn that little thing up real fast?

also for anyone that knows about snatch blocks, if i used more than one does it just keep doubling it (example 3000 winch with one block is 6000 2 blocks is 9 exc exc)
to put that in more depth, (example) my 2wd trucks buried and i have a full size truck 20 feet on hard packed (yes i could be snatched out) but if i put 2 snatch blocks on his truck and one on mine, if i looped it threw and ran it back to my truck would i have 9000 pounds of pulling force geared down on a 3000 pound winch and if so how effective is that?

3000lbs winch is meant for an ATV.

Get a real 8 to 9000lbs winch for recovering your truck.

yes and no, your logic is right, however, you are still putting 9000 lbs of stress on the motor of the winch... plus, regardless of the number of doublers, the stress on the cable is the same as the full pull, even if you double it up or triple it, you're still putting 9000lbs of stress on the cable... for recovery, you should have a winch that's minimum 3x the weight of your truck... someone will give more details, but i would not trust a 3000lb winch to recover yourself... click the link in the top right of most windows that says smittybuilt xrc8 winch 295$ buy that, it's actually sold by Jim, through that link...

edit: DAMNIT i got ninja'd!

spend the money for a smttybuilt. AN atv winch will work. However there is a caviat, it will burn out real quick. You want an 8000 pound like mentioned above with a snatch block, better wind speeds and reliability, AND PAY ATTENTION when you get into mud or some kinda of gunk, it will create a force on your vehicle equivalent to sometimes as much as 10k lbs. A 300 lbs man whos feet are suck knee deep in mud will have roughly 600+ lbs of force on hit boots. Think about it.
