My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
I have a evap can/ fuel system leak (the minivan finally started throwing a code and a CEL) and thats what the scanner said. it has to be on the return system because the engine computer says it is getting 19 mpg, but I go to the pump and its closer to 8 mpg. I cannot find any evidence of leakage near the tank. there are no puddles under the car...... strong gas smell from the middle - to the - front of the car I just can't seem to see the leak. where is the evap can? I think I need to start there and work back.

other issue. replaced the leaky steering rack (took 20 min, did it this morning) still leaking power steering fluid...... not leaking at the pump. appears to be leaking at the resovior around the cap, that is the only visible evidence of a leak on the steering system.

was there a service bulliten on the resovior?

good guess, but if it was that simple I wouldn't ask. already checked the filter and 6" of rubber lines on either side for leaks.

Is it AWD? My work van (2000 T&C AWD) developed a fuel leak where the fuel line crosses the drive shaft. The clips on the line broke and the drive shaft rubbed a hole in it. It was kind of hard to find until it got really bad because the small amount of gas it would leak evaporated real quick.

yep, AWD. Thanks, i will look at it in the morning.

fuel cannister should be in the front drivers or passenger side rectangle
3"x6"tall follow the fuel lines from the manifold or regulator should be able to find them that way.
what codes came up
dont know bout the pump though

I don't recall the number, the display said evap can/ fuel system leak, check fuel system

when I said at the pump I meant when I fill up at the pump I am getting 8 mpg gallon when the engine computer mileage tracker console thingy says 19 mpg so I am thinking it is on the return line.

I couldn't find it on the site, but when it comes to the internet searches I am dumber than a fence post in a mud puddle. I haven't checked my e-mail yet.

I just went out and looked at my email. I will look at the rails tomarrow.
