Will HID's melt the fog light housings of my 06 ranger???

Yeah i was surprised that they were coming from China, since I live in MD I figured I would have them next day, but it only took them 4 days to get here, I was very shocked.

I just finally got mine in the mail today, 7 days. Looks like a nice set of kits, I'll find out how they work 2maro when i put em in. Hopefully it works out for me. My projectors have the little half-shields in them, so I plan to use them wired into my low beams and to use my regular lights as highbeams.

I have several issues. I can't find a kit for an 82 landcruiser. but it looks like I can get a 7" round euro lens and HD wiring kit from LMC truck meant for an older chevy to get the right lens and get the HID conversion kit with the H4 bulb and that should do it. but whats the difference in the $40 kit and the $80 kit?

The $40 kit is a single bulb, no second beam, just bright as hell all the time.
the $80 kit is a twin bulb design, it uses a regular halogen bulb for the low and an HID for the high.

As for the H4 conversion lamps, find a set of glass ones, and spend a little more. I had a set in my old 88 B2, they had plastic lenses. One got cracked when somebody leaned against my truck and the other one got shattered by a rock on the highway. The glass lensed ones hold up a lot better.

Search EbayMotors for H6024
My quick search for ya led me to these

Oooo I looked again, and found these. These would look sick as hell in a Old-school Yota.

Not quite. I ordered the 80 dollar kit with a 9007 style bulb, and it actually moves in and out to change where the light is focued. They have pictures of the bulbs that come with the 80 dollar kit you can look at. Also, I think the HID is used for low beam, and halogens are usually used for high with a twin bulb design, but since the 9007/9004 is a single bulb, it just moves.

Yep. vvme.com has the kits for both. You can get just a xenon bulb (just low or high beam), or a xenon bulb that telescopes (low & high beams), or one that has a halogen and xenon bulb in the same fixture.

Bi-xenon usaully means that you'll retain the ablity to use the high or low beam on the same bulb fixture.

ok so more light, less heat, less drag on my ancient 27 y/o electrical system .......... sign me up. don't suppose you can find me the lenses for my Suburban ........ 91 is has the small rectangles .......... not the 200mm square ........ my search skills are limited to LMC truck and JC whitney.........

Mine went in last night. Simple as usual, and suspiciously similar to my last kit that was twice the price.

6k in a Ranger looks hot.

The socket for the 9007 plug from the truck that comes with the HID's is pretty cheesy/flimsy. The pins inside were a little off and one of the pins pushed out when I connected it to the the headlight plug. I put it back in and put a ziptie around the plug with the wires under it so they can't be stressed. Then I sealed it all up with tape for good measure.

Just remember that the Human eye doesn't focus "blue" light very well.

Ideal lights are kinda yellowish matching the light of the sun.

Daylight looks "white" mostly by it's intensity, but the light our eyes
see ranges either side of "yellow"

Ever wonder why focus seems sharper when you intentionally
use yellow lights (like foglamps) or view the world through yellow lenses?

"blue" lights are the current fad among stupid/ignorant/uninformed
people because they want their lights to LOOK like the HID lamps
which are only "blue" by comparison with halogen bulbs.

I'm old enough to remember how "white" halogen bulbs look by
comparison to the tungsten bulbs they gradually replaced in the 80's

the various coatings and gas mixtures that make halogens look more bluish
don't accomplish a damned thing as far as improving your ability to see.

As far as lights I run Hella H-4 headlamps in my Gen1 ranger.
the bulbs in them are currently Osram 80w/55w's

If I were forced to buy new bulbs I'd probably get the "super whites"
from sylvania. But only because they'd match the sylvania superwhite
H3 bulbs that are in my driving lights (Hella 550's).

I prefer H4 healamps because the drivers headlamp can be replaced
from the back with the hood open, and the passenger side by removing
the battery hold down and slipping the battery back on it's tray

Replacing a conventional headlamp on a Gen1 essentially requires removing
the grille, which with my grille guard is a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS.

True about what you said AllanD. Thats why when I choose to got with HID, I didn't choose anything abover 5k kelvin. 4300K should work nicely on my KLX and provide just a few 200K more degrees to the brightest Sylvania SilverStar Ultra halogen. As for the Ranger, I would have to replace the headlight lens first before I can see any improvement if I decided to switch. No sense in trying to put HID's in a yellowish, fogged over headlight.

I bought these for the LandCruiser
