Why no third brake light?

I have a 93 Ranger XLT extended cab but it does not have the third brake light at the top of the cab. Does anyone have any idea why?

Off the top of my head I would say it doesn't have it because it's a 93.

3rd brake lights were not required on pickup trucks or cargo vans until 1996.

The cargo light, while extremely common, was still an option, and if that is not there then the truck was ordered without it.

Thanks

Thanks. I thought it was standard in 93, didn't realize it was an option. The LMC catalog shows it as standard. The smoke plastic rear window visor seems to be notched for the third light so I assumed incorrectly that it was standard.

It was either an extremely common (like 99%) option, or it was a standard item that could be deleted. One of my friends in college had a plain-jane bottom of the line 93 that didn't have it either.

A more familiar example might be the F-150. The base package, or the "standard equipment" would be regular cab, 3.7L V6, 2wd, manual windows and locks, with steel wheels.

How many do you actually see in that configuration? I have seen one is the last 4 years.
