2005 2.3l auto RWD. Got things together to drain and fill transmission, but realized I may have gotten the wrong parts.
Second guessing which transmission I even have now: Haynes manual says 2001 and later 2.3l's use 5R44/55e. I thought I had the 4R44/55E because the pan has 18 bolts. https://www.therangerstation.com/wp..._automatic_transmission_pan_bolt_patterns.png Further, the 18 bolts on the pan are all 7mm instead of 13mm like I would expect. Does anyone know what bolt dimensions for the pan?
Will my new trans pan even work? Dorman 265932 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=14814185&cc=1431241&pt=8546&jsn=10586
My door jamb indeed says it's a 5R44E (D), but again the pan has 18 bolts like a 4R would. There's a rebuilt transmission in so is it possible previous owner put a 4R in there? I thought 5R would be the only trans that would fit this engine?
