i would go with 2 also, it may be because i myself have an 03 level II but for the miles and and the year. I am surprised the level II is an auto with the level II's you always see a 5 speed.

Neither.

I'd go to the dealer and find out what I'd have to do to buy a brand new one,
because a used truck is a "Please pound my ass DRY... every month"
to the finance company for the used vehicle.

On a used vehicle you are doing very well if you ONLY pay DOUBLE the interest rate
and in the end you are likely to pay THE SAME (overall including interest)
for a four year old vehicle as you are for a shiny new one with a factory
warrantee.

Why is this? because the manufacturer subsidizes the financing on a new vehicle.

Also they lose money more money on a used vehicle if you default on the loan and they have to reposess the vehicle so they want THEIR money "up front"
on a new vehicle they don't lose as badly if you default.

DO NOT lease another vehicle as that isn't an better deal.

IF OTOH you are looking to buy a "Certified used car" from a Ford Dealer
(read: lease return) and they frequently offer factory financing
on those used vehicles that's a different kind of fish alltogether.

You also tend to pay a higher rate for insurance on a used vehicle than on a new one.
Why? Complicated aswer but accept it as truth

But either way on a financed vehicle you will be REQUIRED to have "full coverage"

Additionally you cannot usually get "cost of replacement" coverage on a used vehicle

If you can afford to pay CASH for the used vehicle then go for it,
but if you must finance it don't do it...

Well Fellas, thanks for all the good advice. I completely ignored it. I bought the '01.

Actually, I had every intention of buying the '03 level II this morning when I woke up, but I went and looked at both of them and the '01 is in much better shape. I think the '03 was used as some sort of company vehicle for a few years and whoever was driving it wasn't worried about trashing it up. It was decent, but '01 was really nice.

Anyway, my first vehicle was an '88 Ranger and I'm now back in the family with this:
