My 2002 Ranger with a 3.0 Vulcan engine have torque to yield head bolts. Is there a good place online to buy them or do they interchange with any other cars/trucks? My part store wants $40 for a set (two heads) just seeing if there is a cheaper alternative?

That's not a bad price really.Could go to a junk yard, but good luck finding an 2002 Ranger. I've been looking and not one to be seen.

I thought head bolts were a one time use only deal?

I know of a guy who had to replace just the crank dampener bolt on his '03 Cobra and it ran $40. $40 for the full set is not bad. Head bolts are yes torque to yield, one time use only.

If you're looking for a cheap replacement for head bolts I don't think you have your priorities straight. $40 is cheap enough as it is. I bought mine from the dealership and they were about $60. There are some things you just don't want to skimp on, head bolts would be one of them.

OK I thought it was a little high because a set of ARP reusable bolts for my Mustang were only $55. If that's the going rate I will stick with those then.

I see it this way bud, the $60 I paid for head bolts is a lot cheaper than the $2000 replacement engine if I screw something up.

Head Bolts

If it makes you feel better bought some on Fri and paid that plus A couple of bucks whatever it takes to A good job and not see it again

$40 is CHEAP..

my dad reused torque to yield bolts once.. less than a week later the new head gasket had blown.. EVERY bolt had SHATTERED.

it tooks several hours of work to remove the bolts and it cracked the head.
