Where can I find a simple intake pipe

I am wanting to know if it's a good idea to install a free-er flowing intake pipe from the stock filter box to the intake manifold.

I know there is something here about removing the silencers, but I thought this would look nicer and provide a bit more flow to the engine.

What I'm fearing is that I won't be able to hook up the current sensors to a plain and simple intake pipe.

I don't want to buy a $250+ intake system, I want to stay inexpensive yet functional.

All comments and help are welcome!

your not going to get anything better than stock by free-er flowing stock is more than enough for your motor

why is everybody always hating on people about intakes?

yah, your engine probably gets enough air but the stock tube is ugly and not as smooth as a piece of say, stainless tubing, you will get smoother airflow, not more. plus it will look alot better than the ugly stock intake tubes..

2 birds, 1 stone

Complete waste of time and money.

The engine can't flow as much as the stock system will allow, and anything you do will only degrade your truck's performance.

Why would you spend time and money on something that will be worse for your truck?

As for "hatin'", if you ask a question here, expect that someone is going to give you an honest answer. Some of us have been around a while and have done everything in the book to try to make our stuff run better, and learned from our mistakes.

If you want to make your own mistakes, don't ask for advice, just go on with your bad self.

look if you want to make it look better go ahead and do it! just dont look for any performance from it.

Yep! D-I-F-F-E-R-E-N-T don't mean BETTER! If you think you can out engineer the millions already spent by Ford on your intake then by all means...go for it!
There are no gains to be had by messing with your air intake system...cept maybe a lot more noise from the new system. At the very best you won't have a LOSS of air with an aftermarket system.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I always take both sides into play when I make a decision, so at least now I know it will be mostly for looks and not performance, that's all I need to know. :icon_thumby:

Am I going do it or not, probably not now knowing it'll just be for looks. This isn't the type of truck you showcase the engine with anyway but I'll look around and see if I can snag a deal, if not, I'm still happy, I'll look for performance elsewhere.

I'm thinking about an exhaust system. Would this help out or is it another looks over function kind of thing? I may just save my money and do this, it's something people will see and hear without having to open my hood. :D

just another sound over performance. you might see a little performance but nothing major. to get anything out of an exhaust you will need headers and a full new system and still wont see much but better sound
