hey dogboy! can you give a little more detail as to your symptoms? i kinda had something like that happen... its a long story so in the end it was a dirty o2 sensor. probably not a bad idea to just change it or clean it like i did if ya cant shell out the coinage for a new one, it will only help fuel economy at the worst haha dont forget the anti-sieze!

hey my new camera showed up on the doorstep today! pretty sweet, it doesnt take batteries which gives me mixed feelings cuz if the damn thing dies i can't really charge it on the trail. but it did come with a cable so i can watch the vids i take on my tv which i think is kick ass and with 8.2 megapixels i can see the nipples on brand new tires from 50ft away (not really but still)

The truck just recently started running like crap. Running down the road at any speed ( generally does it while going a steady speed, not really while speedig up), like normal, it will randomly have a huge lack of power. Down shift into 3rd or 4th, and rev it up close to 4000 rpm or more, it gets it's power back for a shirt time, then it will start missing, and lose it's power. The other day on my way home, it didn't do it at all. It will go for 5 mile without doing, or it could do it for a mile or two, be good for 30 seconds, and be gutless again.. It is random.

I put a bottle of SeaFoam in my tank yesterday when I filled up, and today it seemed to miss slightly less, granted I only went 40 miles.
I'm going to run this tank of gas down, and if it still does it, I'm going to buy some 3M intake cleaner and spray the shit out of the intake, and hopefully that will clean it out alot. My auto shop teacher says doing that will also clean the O2 sensors, which I think might be the problem anyway. He was saying my problem sounded like either an O2 sensor issue, or a fuel injector issue.

I'm think partially both. My truck, from the day I got it, has thrown an "engine bank 1 lean" code. It has gotten more frequent though. When I got the truck, it happened maybe once every 3 months, now it is up to once- twice a week. The lights comes on and off at random, unless I'm missing somethign. If it comes on, it could go off in 10 seconds, , and not come back on, or it could back on, or sometimes it never goes out. I've seen it come on and off maybe 15 times before in one trip. ( this is what happens 1-2 times/ days a week)

Also, I know my cousin and my buddy would really like to go, but if you guys really don't want them to, they don't have to. I'd like them to, and I know they would like to. (Derek, you've met both of them)

I guess the thing would have been the fact that it would be making the group slightly larger. Which can be cool, but can and will mean slower travel. Unavoidable with larger groups.

Is your buddy with the Yota going whether you get your Ranger done, or not, or is he only going if you don't get yours done? (I'll add him to the list, depending)

I dunno. I have one friend with a Yota truck who I know wants to go wheeling. I have another friend who would probably go as well just to get out. It's hard to say at this point, but I will know as the date gets closer.

ok so it's cool to meet at ten cuz then i get to sleep in another hour but really it doesn't matter except that i get home later which is no big deal. so someone just make a decision cuz it don't really matter to me.

Dogboy, your issue sounds exactly the same as mine. i was wheelin and we ended on a dead end road so i backed down a hill so that the leader could pass me, while on the side of the road i turned around to get some food out and when i took off it ran exactly like you said... it ran that way for like 10 minutes and ran fine for 3 days. got in it to go to lunch BAM ran like crap again. did that for like 3 weeks. almost like it was on four cylinders, really bad at cruising speed, couldn't tell during acceleration. so after talking to my uncle (who's a master mechanic) he said o2, injectors, or spark plug wires. i changed plugs... no change. so i just ran it. sometimes it ran good the whole trip sometimes it ran crappy the whole trip sometimes it couldn't decide how to run. my cousin is in AZ going to UTI and he just learned about o2 sensors and he told me to clean it off (outside and inside) and as soon as i did it hasn't ran as bad. it still does it when it is cold. once it gets to running temp for a little while it runs perfect. even when it runs bad it is hardly noticeable.

i know i'll get lynched for this one... but i got a jeeper drivin up with me. hope you guys don't outcast me He is a new wheelin buddy i just met, neither of us really know where to go wheelin around here so he wants to go scout out Tahuya too. it's a 95 cherokee with 5" lift and 35" tires... nice rig

Its cool that your cousin and buddy go, i'm actually getting myself into a scout project in a couple weeks. my g/f's mom has one that needs the tranny rebuilt and her brother is doing it so i will install it and getting the heap-o-shit running... really it is trust me. they say those things are un-stoppable but i think they are too heavy for a good wheeler so it would be nice to see one in action.

The earlier the better for us with trailers, cause if it's a nice day out, it'll be packed for parking. If anything though, we could just meet you at the trailhead a little after ten or something.
