Wheelin Meet This Winter

loanranger, i have 2 extra d28 auto hubs i take with me wheelin you can use if you break one, if that helps any

its nice they are concerned about your tow rig, probably just a liability thing though

They swapped a D35 in, I'm not sure if the hubs are the same...

The D28 and D35 hubs are different. The axle shaft/ splines on the D28 are smaller.

Forgot to put it in my last post, but my cousin will be trailering his Scout, assuming he goes. He has the axles to do, plumb the fuel tank, and do his suspension work (shackle reversal, and he is swaping to Isuzu Trooper leaves for better flex). He is a fast worker, so I'm think he'll be done by that time.

Oh yeah, I knew the shafts were different, I just didn't think about that... Dee de Dee.

Yep, hubs are different. I have the manuals off the dana 28, plus another set off mine, but they won't work. I have yet to pull the autos apart, I'm kindof wondering if the slug that the axleshaft fits in could be swapped out, but it seems I read somewhere they can't.

As for progress, I'm taking the night off, well sort of. I won't be working on the ranger tonight, I'm heading over to a buddies to help him with head studs on a 6 liter ford diesel. :bawling:

Alright I've got one friend who is trying to get 4.56 geared 3rd members with ARBs into his 95 Yota, and if he does, he will be there for sure. Another friend with an 87 4Runner is down too.

ya i was just to lazy to check if they swapped in the 35. i figured as much since it is a trail rig ha ha but thought i'd offer it up anyways. my next project is a scout, puting the tranny back together and doing a full tuneup and hoping it runs after 7 yrs of sitting. everyone in my gf's family assures me it will start up but i'm skeptical. i pulled the bad gas out yesterday and it was so gross, i never smelled something so foul. it seriously was like urine ha ha. but everyone tells me this thing is a tank and can't be outwheeled. it is a scout 800, 1970 with a v8 and apparently 4.56 gears locked front and rear. still has springs runnin under the axle tubes but i can fix that haha. sits stock on 31x11.50x15s

That is pretty much what my cousin's was like 3 weeks ago. Except he has the 3.2 (I think) 4cyl. He's doing a full roll cage, shackle reversal, spring over, Trooper leaves, half top (original top cut down and sealed up agian), worn out 35x14.5 Thornbirds (temperary tire off of a buddies Bronco, in a month or two he's going to 35x12.5 Boggers or Swampers), Lockright lockers front and rear, with new gears. He said he's going to 5.56 axle gears, but I think he confused 5.13's and 4.56's and got that number. I think he's actually doing 4.56, or 5.13 gears.
I doubt they make much lower than 4.56 gears for the Dana 25, I think that's what it is, I know the number is smaller than 28.

wow i wouldn't believe they would put small an axle in those beasts. this one is undescribably ugly. my gf's mom is in love with the piece of sh*t so i want to use it as a christmas present... haha i'm really just tired of seeing it sit around on BRAND NEW mud tires that she won't let me have cuz it makes her scout look like a beast. sorry thats a sore subject, new tires just sitting and now are bad and will need to be replaced cuz she is an idiot.

did your truck ever start running better Dogboy?

Well, it doesn't have the original problem anymore (sudden, complete lack of power), but eh problem has changed a couple times since then.

Now, it just lacks power most of the time, and when it regains the power it does it almost like turbo lag. It's weird. Push the gas, kinda gutless, then all the sudden POWER. Odd.
It has been running like this for a month or so, and has gotten me to Tahuya and back once already, so I shouldn't have any problems.

alright, sounds good. i'm hopin for some money to show soon. i should get unemployment by then and the company i got laid off from still owes me $700. if i don't get some green i won't make it. and the me and the jeep that would have been going with me went wheelin today and the jeep broke a rear axle today. he has c-clip axles so we just thought he broke the ring or pinion cuz he had it in gear and the d-shaft was spinning but the truck was trying to move (posi). he decided to front wheel it and the first hill he went up the passenger side tire was about 2 ft from where it was supposed to be. he has a d35 in rear with posi and 35" tires. the posi didn't seem to work very well with the big tires. this is the second shaft he has broken

hey dogboy do you know of any fields around enumclaw area to plow around in the snow. That is if more snow drops i was mobbingh around in the turbo sleigh tonight having some fun

I dont thionk ill be able to make the meet as i have to spend the 20th setting up for the christmas party. but next time maybe

Nah, I don't... I think your best bet would be Evans Creek, but do not go up there alone!! By the time I left yesterday, most of the roads were sheets of ice, up there.. ESPECIALLY the intersection that coems form the main parking lot, and Y's off to the campground, right by the day parking area (if that makes sense)
It was a giant cluster f*** yesterday right there... I was stuck, a Yoto got stuck, a Chevy 2500 got stuck, and huge f-350 got stuck. All right in that intersection due to being an ice sheet.

I'm about to head out into the street and buzz around in my little gokart, lol.

It's a funn kart! Had to mofify the front suspension though, becuase two teenagers riding in something that was ment for 1-2 kids puts some strain on things...
