Thanks again Dogboy, for the hub pieces. I got them and the other side welded up tonight, and took it out in the snow to play, and it's definately got 4wd now. The lower gears make it a little nicer too.

I had fun running up to Dogboy's place today to get those hub gears. I didn't really have much trouble stopping or going, but it was very easy to break the back end loose, which I had to do a few times just for the fun of it. Something about the thought of losing control of a 7000 lb jacked up diesel suburban on ice kept me from playing around much.

yeah you just have to copy the url into the top and do it that way, don't know why it didn't finish the whole link... probably cuz of the spaces in the album name.

Definitely gonna be snow wheeling...

Ty, do you upload them to Youtube or anything?

Snow wheeling will make it more fun for those of us with more capible rig!
And for the less capible rigs, all you need is a little tug and well be on our way.

I don't know about anybody else, but I always carry a set of wrenches, a 30k lbs-30ft recovery strap (so far I haven't had to use it), a highlift and a few other tools/ equipment.

Oh, and by the way, tow hooks are a VERY handy thing in the snow. I am going to bring a chunch of heavy chain, becuase I only have a tow hook on the back, not the front, and looping a strap around the bumper horn will destroy a good tow strap. Just a thought for those of us without a tow hook at all.
I probably go buy another tow hook tomorrow an put it on the front end somewhere.

Anybody up for camping Saturday night????

That was a joke... I would be freezing my ass off.

i snow wheelin sounds fun to me. the outlook is looking bleak as far as me going on the trip.. check will show up by saturday but i have bills to pay so i will know more by the end of the week. my gf has a video camera and he knows how to upload them to the computer so i'll talk to him to see if i can take it if i end up going.

i always carry a 20 ft tow strap, i have two hooks up front and a heavy duty bumper in back and i found a tow chain at sandlake last time i was there so i carry that now too, its about 10-12ft long with hooks on both ends.

if there is snow, how low you guys run your tires? how low you runnin them right now with the snow on the roads?

I run my tires at 25 every day on the street (snow or not), and usually don't air down offroad becuase I don't have an on board air setup, but there is a air pump thing (costs a quater or something) at the Safeway in Belfair, but it takes for ever to fill up 33's.

If I get onboard air done this week, I will probably air down to 13-15 or so. But otherwise, I'll probably only go to 20 becuase it takes a while to fill up at Safeway. And I'll bring some matches and starting fluid incase a bead blows, lol.

I have an A/C pump from my spare 4.0L in the garage, I just have to run power/ a switch to it, and put on some air fittings, and I'm good to go. Shouldn't take too long.

EDIT: I updated the list of people who are going, and it keeps getting smaller and smaller... haha.

We'll definitely see about the weather, could make for a fun trip! We are supposed to get some more snow out this way later in the week, so most likely it will be another 1/4th inch and the roads wont be affected much.

I don't anticipate any problems with icy roads.

The trails will definitely have some snow in them, but nothing very extreme most likely a few inches at most. It should be fun, very cold though!

I've got a camera and a video camera and a passenger to jump out and use them. So we should be covered there.

I also remember someone talking about tow points in this thread. Lets make sure that everyone going in our group has AT LEAST ONE tow point front and rear! It really makes it easier to throw on a strap and give a quick tug, if not it can be a real pain sometimes for a small stuck.

I have the hook on the rear, but sonce I don;t have one on the front, I am bring the chain, which I'll just sling around the bumper horn ( the bumpe will be coming off in a couple weeks anyway), or crossmemer (right where it attaches to the frame, so it isn't going to bend anything).

I'm probably not going to be able to buy a hook for the front. All the store up here close at 6, and I don't even get off until 7.

yes i have posted some stuff on youtube just search for tahuya and you should find them. also some from elbe.

i have on-board setup, it doesn't like to stay on unless it is hooked to a tank and really it is useless unless it is hooked to a tank. i started building one from pipe at work but haven't finished it. maybe i'll work on it today or something.

i was airing down to 20 psi from 30 yesterday and heard a hissing noise.... i broke my bead somehow right above the lead weight. i could see bubbles. it is a very slow leak though so i'll hit up shwabs today.
