What's your top speed?

127, because I got scared and let off the gas.

My 88 shortbed w/ 3.73s will cruise at 75 nicely and hit somewhere around 95 fairly easily but once it hits that, its done!.4th is mandatory as 5th just falls back.It always runs 100 times harder/better with several hundred pounds in the bed.Who knows why,but calling the little 2.3 a dog is just wrong. If you get rid of the stock exhaust system you would be surprised how much that 2.3 will wake up.I have a header from a 94 model on mine along with a flowmaster muffler. The 2.3 likes to rev anyway but the difference in the speed and ability to rev after the change it was like a totally different truck.

wow maybe my truck is special after all it'll max out the speedo in 4th easy

Bury the speedo (which goes to 85). Of course the run up from 70 could be timed with a calendar. It has a ton of miles (over 325K), though, so it can be forgiven. Actually - I'm pretty impressed with how peppy it seems with only 100hp. Then after taking a load of paper to the recycler, I found it only weighs 2,950 pounds. So kinda quick off the line (and under 55 or so). ...but there's no overcoming the barn door-like aerodynamics.

wow mine weights 3520 with half tank and me(200lbs) and still reaches 90mph, 95 sometimes.
not that bad lol

Ford should have offered a turboed 5.0 from the factory as an option for the ranger....for towing...and hauling stuff, or course.

On a straight flat road with no wind, I can get it up to 80-85 MPH on 5th gear. But the truck is not shy to reach 100 on 4th gear. Mine feels like a limiter is set for it to not go over 100. I've done 105, but going downhill only.

With moderate wind, My truck will make 75 on 5th, with harsh wind, I have to keep it in 4th just to keep a constant 70.

i dont have a tach but just finished rebuilding my 94 and mine will burry the speedo in third also its pretty fast for a ranger 4 banger

In 3rd, I have dared to take her to 75 max. In 3rd doing 75, i am pushing just above 6000 rpms with 3.73's and 215-70's. I know these engines like their rpms, but the little bugger will not pass 6200 .....i have tried.

iv had my 85mph speedo burried, heh, i want a new dash cluster that goes to like 140 but i cannot find them anywere.

83 was my top but wind was in my favor and it was a long downhill stretch on the highway she got kinda touchy so i slowed it down

130 km/h said the speedometer on some 235/75 r15's. So in reality that was about... 140-145 km/h. Which equals something like 87 mph. And with no tach, couldn't tell RPM, but it didn't feel like much at all, I know for a fact it had more RPM in it.

Oh yeah... it's a 2.0L :thefinger:

Not sure what mine will do yet, havent had it on the road for a good run. I think it'll do well over 100mph though. Its an 88 turbo 2.3, ported heads, cold air intake, intercooler, new this, new that, and a mustang t5 tranny. Its pushing 250 horses.

i can get mine up to 90 in 4th gear on flat road. i've had it 115 or 120 goin down hill 1 time:yahoo:
