The 2.3L 4cylinder is pretty weak to begin with. I'm just curious, what is the top speed you ever hit on your 4 banger ranger?

my speedo only goes to 95.... but I have buried it many times..... I do hit 60mph in first gear at about 6k Rpm with a 3 speed auto

I have run along side a bud of mine to about 120 mph..... but the front end was lifting bad and I had to get out of it, it was like driving on ice....

mine has hit around 73 and my speedo only goes up to 85 but that was a while ago i probably need to test it again to see if my repairs have helped :D

I've had my Ranger up to 80. Never had the balls or enough straight road to get it any higher. She'd probably do 100 (take about three days to get there), if I knew a cop would let me slide.

my stock 90 ranger with the 2.3,5sp can bury its 85 mph speedo and thats about it,with the aerodynamics of a brick and a 100 horses its about all u can expect,LOL

Maybe 82 or so...that was back when 200k was a recent memory, though. Rolling with traffic and trying to cover some ground. Had more left, if I'd wanted to push it.

I don't think it's seen the high side of 75 in quite some time, and I usually try to keep it under 68 or so. With the 4.10 gears and stock 14" tires, that's about as high as I like to wind the engine for any length of time (no tach, and it's been years since I did the math out...3600 rpm is coming to mind, though).

Hardly ever take it out on the highway since I got the new one, though...the steering has gotten so awful it's not at all pleasant at higher speeds.

105 with n/a 2.3l...120+ turbod

my 99 2.5 before the 30" tires could hit 100mph, now with 30"s it hits 90mph, maybe 95 ona downhill.
my moms 03 2.3 hits 92mph since its limited at that speed. the engine can give more, but it starts to act funny at 90 lol. i guess the engine weights less than the old lima, thats why the front end feels nervious

I hit 82 and that was holding it to the floor in 4th (5th would just loose speed) for 9.5 miles on the freeway...never letting my foot off the floor. Broke timing belt...replaced and retimed....now I can pin it to the bottom of my guage cluster. Takes a few miles...but it can happen.

bury the speedo in 3rd at 3000 and i shift at 6200 when it hits limiter... along side a mustang 138 just testin and i thought i was gonna take off not a good high speed truck...

96 mph in 4th gear, would lose speed in 5th,thats according to my brothers mustang

It would make anyone smile to bury a speedo in 3rd at a meer 3k. Well done and congrates mini.
