what year Rangers are 4 door (rear suicide type door)?

looking to get a different ranger and want a one with the rear doors that open up but not a true "4 door"...

certain years or models/trims to look for?

I believe they started it somewhere in the 98-00, but it started as an option (my '00 XLT doesn't have it). I think pretty much all of the newer ones (like '04+ or something like that) have it standard, but I could be wrong...

Nope, not standard. My 06 is a 2-door extended cab, and you can still go on Ford's website and order a 2-door extended cab. I'm about 95% sure 1998 was the first year for 4-door ext cabs.

I have a 2001 XLT and it is a 4-door. The only problem with ever buying a picckup with an extended cab is that you are never satisfied with a regular cab again! When you get your extended cab with 4-doors you will continue to want 4-doors on any more pickups you buy!

I believe so, but I know it wasn't very common the first few years, when I looked at getting my Ranger in 2000, most of the extended cab Rangers on the lot were 2-door, there was only one or two out of a dozen that had the 3rd door.

Duratecs are only available in regular cab and 2-door extended cab.

I bought my supercab in July '99 brand new. I remember the salesman saying they were a new model that year. I do love the 4 door, but I hated the seats right away. I pulled them out and they are still sitting in my garage!!! Junk...except for a small kid!!

Anybody else know about this? I had all the sales brochures from 98 and 99 and only remember seeing the 4 door coming out in 99 unless they came out late 98?

My '05 does not have them and wish it did sometimes.

I was looking for the 3rd door option for mine but it was a no go. Either way I LOVE MY RANGER.
