I have a 98 Ranger XLT 4x4 with the 4.0, cat back flowmaster exhaust, hurst short shifter, K&N air filter. So I'm in the process of getting a accel super coil and NGK iridinm spark plugsand I dont know what spark plug wires to get. But I know that I want ones that will give me more spark, any thoughts would be a lot of help.

Wires won't give you more spark....:dunno:

I advise you not to buy an Accel coil, or for that matter any Accel product. I would run a stock replacement type coil from Napa, Standard motor, or something comparable, and Autolite copper core plugs. As for wires, Standard motor or Motorcraft have always done fine for me. If you are dead set on something performance any spiral core wire from Summit or the like will work fine. I have run MSD wires in the past without any issues.

I would stick with Motorcraft replacement ignition components as well....guaranteed to give you the best performance and economy as they are engineered to work for your truck...

Hey, your first post!!! Welcome to TRS!! How did you not post from 2009 until now?
I would also recommend buying stock ignition components.

The best plug wires I have used in the past are made by Taylor. They have many apps but I don't know if they have em for your truck or not.

Motorcraft plugs and wires ftw!

Motorcraft plugs for sure. I wouldn't even try any other plug. Autolite wires are a good choice and can easily be found. I went with a Screamin' Demon coil pack and don't notice a big enough difference to justify the price. Might as well stick with motorcraft.

Just stay away from Bosch wires. Had a set on my Ranger, pulled ends off when I changed them. Even the ones that were "fine" I still had issues with, they only had 40k on them. Replaced with cheap Autozone house brand wires and the truck runs a whole lot better.

I've got the autozone wires on mine too and they've been fine for the last 10k I haven't had any problems.

I've had Bosch on mine for years with no issues :dunno:

I always get NAPA wires and ignition parts.

Whatever you do, stay away from the Napa "Belden" wires. They are total garbage. I put a set on an S10 Blazer at work, and it missed so badly that I thought I had crossed some of them. I turned the lights off in the shop while it was running, and it lit up like a Christmas tree under the hood! They were arcing everywhere! I've put on several sets in the past that were OK, but close to half of the time they were junk out of the box. I even convinced the boss to quit buying them when he saw how bad they were on that Blazer. I swapped them out with the cheapest wire set from Frank's Auto (local chain) and it ran fine.

That's a little scary. I have used Napa wires, but not the Belden ones. Never had a bad experience to speak of. I had an MSD streetfire coil short out and kill an ignition module before. I have since read that this is a common problem with streetfire coils.

I have cut to fit 9mm Ford Racing wires on my Ranger now. They look neat, are numbered... and not much more money than a good quality set from a parts store, I think about $40. Dunno if you can get them for a V6 or not though...
