Trans shop said it was the pcm. Well I swapped with a known good one and now I'm back to square one. While accelerating I can hit the brake and the torque converter will release but re-engage when I let off.

I've got other posts about it. Explains what they did. But now I'm just looking elsewhere. Thx

Year, engine, trans? You can't just ask questions and give no relevant information about the vehicle you are asking about. Well you can, but you shouldn't. Makes it hard to give useful answers.

Your profile lists an 07 and an 86.

If it's the 86, the speed sensor, brake pedal switch, and throttle position are all that go into it.

If you are above 45 MPH, not on the brakes, and not getting close to wide-open throttle, the converter is engaged.

If it's the 07 a lot more things go into the determination on when the converter clutch is engaged and when it isn't.

Lol sorry I thought it would have been clear that 07/86 means July/1986 but I can change it. I put it like that cause it's a split year.

But anyways. So tps. Speed sensor and brake switch.

I've tested the tps. And it looks good. Right now I've got it so it read .9 volts closed throttle. And it has a smooth range going slowly towards wot.

I'm assuming the brake switch is fine. Due the fact when I tap the brake the tcc releases. But slowly engages again.

So how do I test the speed sensor. Or do I just replace it.

Update. Found Vss wires bare wire cracked insulation and they were twisted. Made a temporary repair because the damage was so close to the connector. However the condition has changed but is not fully fixed. But something is still causing the torque converter to engage. Tapping the brake releases it still.

Anybody got a clue on this.

The TCC should not be a slow engagement if it is being commended.

Also, how do you know it's engaging slowly?

To test the VSS hook a volt meter to it and spin it while watching for AC voltage. Probably easiest to take it out and run it with a drill.

Well it's what the trans shop is saying. All I know is when I have to give a lot of gas, I tap the brake pedal and it will go like normal and then it does it again. But also at times when I'm letting off the gas after speeding up ill be cruising and it will shift into od and shift in and out repeatedly. It does a lot of weird things. Ill be tracing wires in the morning. Ill be tracing tps, vss, brake switch. Just to make sure there are no more bad wires. After that testing sensors.

Anything else I should be checking. Thx for helping adsm08

Checked vss it was dirty and have fluid in the cable. Check how you said and it was fine. Ac voltage was there. Idk what it's supposed to be. I cleaned it and reinstalled it.

So I'm thinking internal. There's something wrong in there. When I checked the fluid this morning before starting it there was dark swirls in the fluid. Could something inside be binding.
