The wires were cut when I got the truck, so I don't know what it was for. It also goes up the side of the cab, interior light? And has several wires connected at the bottom going underneath the cab.

On my 88 xtended cab i had power lumbar seats so it could be that...or seat belt warning buzzer. The ones going up the side of the cab are usually speakers, dome light, bed light.

My tail lights also fed off of the harness through the cab on my 96 and that wasn't typical on the earlier models...although it could have been on some with more features like tow packages. The fuel tank was on a separate harness that did not feed through the cab on the 88 but might have on the 96...I can't recall...

So what exactly that is...not sure...I'm just going over the harness I have from my 2.0 and there are connections on it that I don't remember what they connected to...

I thought it might be a seatbelt buzzer, but then I wasn't sure a 1985 truck would have that.

It is the wiring for the ejector seat firing mechanism.

Try this link it might help if you can trace the colors of the wires,,, maybe that is possible maybe not lol ,,, see if link works and save it and pass it around,, lots of good diagrams for several years and models,,------------http://www.revbase.com/BBBMotor/Wd

I just put in new flooring in my 85 Ranger and that wire ran to the inside of the seatbelt buckle. So I assume it is for seatbelt light or buzzer.

Mine has it too, going to the seat belt buckle. Not sure how it is supposed to work but it is supposed to be tied in with the dome light.

It must have done something annoying because mine is cut also. :icon_confused:
