"What IS the Veterans Network" at TRS? (MISSION STATEMENT)

The Veterans Network, or "VET NET" at TRS is a Social Group of and for Veterans here at TheRangerStation.

A "VETERAN" is a current or prior member of the military services.
We also welcome members of their immediate family.


PURPOSE:
The reason for such a group within TRS is because Veterans are different at a fundamental level. We take care of our own, recognise one another no matter where we are, and have a mutual respect for our people that goes right to the core.

We have resources and options that an average citizen just doesn't have; tax free shopping, recreational facilities, and other onbase facilities as well as Veterans Administration options being only the tip of the iceberg.

In addition to the knowlege base at TRS, we have many skilled professions available (even free legal advice) that can be called upon at need. We are a group with a wealth of experience like few others - and these abilities we share for those of us who need what we can offer in support, in aid of all of our Sisters and Brothers - as well as their families at home.

If any of us ever has a problem - we should help

Yep, but now I realize that God is setting things up so that "if you want to trust in him--there's enuff info to do so....and if you don't want to trust him--there's not enough info for that also...

so, now I don't wonder any more.

I always thought that quote was a lot deeper than just pure gag factor.
A lot of Military training is not explained - you just have to go with it until you finally see what you REALLY learned.

~As happened to me several times with the fire fighting component of naval training.
In one instance - the whole underdash on a mini-van in a parking lot was on fire - drivers side of course. Down near the hood release nearly...

1) Didn't freeze
2) Knew a class charlie when I saw it
3) Had to access the underhood and dis-con the battery
4)Total time about 45 seconds....
*I was prepared to peel the corner of the hood back by force if necessary

I got the sole NAM I ever recieved for stomping out a compartment fire on a nuclear aircraft carrier - I was the outgoing shop sup.

The new sup, for all his holding "Quarters" at the beginning of each day wanted to abandon the shop and wait for the "Flying Squad", but I mobilized MY PEOPLE and it was out before emergency response even reached the scene!

He never did like my unconventional (OLD SCHOOL) attitude

But in a nutshell - I never even thought about it. I saw what was going on, blew 2 (TWO) co2's on it to knock it down once, realised it was a metals fire (Class Delta) and sent people running for extinguishers, and another guy to don a scott pack (he relieved me, since I didn't have time to grab one)

In ALL of that, I never even thought about personal risk, I knew I'd be dragged out of there barring the major conflag I was trying to prevent. ~There was an eight inch JP-5 transfer pipe in the immediate area of the fire being toasted like a giant purple marshmallow...

It HAD TO BE SNUFFED.

And it went like that for twenty minutes
