What do you guys think of the Dodge Ramcharger?

Even the cab on a newer Ranger will crush down level with the body. In a rollover your life is in god's hands, because no matter what you are driving it is a crapshoot if you will make it out. All it takes is one well placed fencepost and...

Personally I think the truck is too neat for a dd anyway.

X2 I see several wreaks and it does not matter what it is or how old it is..... its luck, just ask SHOEBOY:icon_hornsup:

do it....and when u get another ranger get a 4x4 :P

Well I'm waiting on the guy right now. Seems he's not responding back to me or just busy. Who knows, but I'll probably do it cause I miss mine that much. It was the same color and everything. Had a bigger motor though.

I'm probably going to have to use it daily for about 1 or 2 months until I get another Ranger. I have a Honda Accord I can sometime alternate with though too. I'll let you guys know. Later.

Those things are sweet. I first saw one when I was at summer camp (10 years old?) It had a little lift and big tires. The inside had some nasty stuff in it so they just hosed it out. From that point on I have always wanted a vehicle I could hose out.

yeah, people who drive old cars generally know what they're doing, at least when it comes to vehicle maint./ driving. It's those knuckleheads in the new cars, (cuz they probably wrecked they're old one!), that drive like idjits. I think they're to busy fiddlen' with the onboard computer/navigtion/etc. to pay attention, sometimes.

I had a '78 Ramcharger I bought brand new. It had the 318, 4 speed manual, full time 4x4, rubber floors, console and rear seat. I got 17 mpg with it, not much worse than my 4.0 Ranger 4x4, though it won't compete with a 2.3 for mileage. The 318 is nearly impossible to kill. The Ramcharger is not all that heavy, so it has plenty of power.

What they heck did the guy do with the top? I never had mine off because I didn't want to risk a leak. It was my dd at the time. The next owner had it off and on regularly. The only problem with the truck was the winter salt here in Iowa eventually took its toll on the body.

The one in the pics looks great, but I'd want the metal roof. Even without it though, a 95 4 banger Ranger would sure be easier to find. I'd go for it I think!

Yeah, well like I said, the guy must have backed out or something because I have'nt heard from him in a couple days now.

I sure miss my old one. I had the top off too pretty much all the time because over where I live you only need it on about 3 months out of the year.

i've had 4 318 engines, including 77 powerwagon 4x4.all 2 barrel motors and i recall them being pretty good on gas,not overly powerfull but no all day patsy either.

never match the gas economy of your 2.3 ranger, but it was mopars economy v8 after the 273.still think you should consider it.have you driven it?

Yes the 318's were very good motors(my dad had a 318 in a Plymouth Volaré)

I must say that the 80 Ramcharger I had was nice...however...:nopityA:

I was out in the parking lot with a bunch of guys who had Broncos and other 4x4s...we were climbing a little hill beside the parking lot that was steep enough to challenge a good truck...I went over in a different area than the other guys were climbing and when I crested the hill I came down in a pile of rocks...didn't notice anything at the time but when I was driving home the next morning (working midnights) I had to stop in a hurry and when I did the truck veered sharply into the oncoming lane...

The front end on the 80 model was held in place by four bolts...I managed to sheer them all off and I guess only the stubs were holding the front end together...managed to drive it to the dealer where they spent a good hour replacing all the bolts...after that I didn't do any wheeling...scared the crap out of me!:icon_surprised:
