What did YOU do today?

Got a lot done on the F150 today, “new” wiper module so I have functional wipers now, fixed my “rigged” fuel pump relay & put a seat cover on the badly sun damaged seat, have another lined up but its in a truck thats sat for over 10 years & smells of mouse real bad. next is to replace the left rear tire, its wore to the cords on one spot of the outside edge and has a date code of 2006. The spare is the same tire but with bad weather checking. Went to add insurance on my app & it didn’t go through, got a message that a agent would get in touch with me. Being a holiday weekend im sure that means monday or tuesday. Im guessing its a issue of how old it is. Ive never owned anything of this age before, Im only putting basic liability on it, guessing at 5,000 or less miles/year. Maybe I should consider haggerty for “collector/classic” insurance.

Yesterday I mowed some more/again, I even fixed the front tire that leaked pretty bad for free, turns out there must have been something in the valve core, I changed it but probably could have just taken it out and put it back in... Tonight I did the same, last night I did the front portion, tonight I did the back portion. Last night I also did some cleaning on the solvent tank I've been working on, it's pretty much to the point of going outside and getting to the hose and scrubbing it with some "totally awesome" cleaner, that stuff works pretty good for being cheap as heck... not quite sure what the rest of the evening has in store, tomorrow I'm supposed to go to an auction with my brother

Hey, don’t knock the collector insurance. It’s changed a lot over the last 15 years. I’ve got Haggerty on the two custom rangers, and I’ve got Grundy on the three Lincolns. The only “normal” insurance I have is on my F250. I have to maintain normal coverage on one to get the collector policies on the others.

I have full coverage on the 96 F250, it’s almost pristine, and it’s the same price as agreed value full coverage no deductible on the other five put together. There are no restrictions on use or mileage. Well, there are, but all I have to say is I was heading to a friend‘s house to discuss going to a show next weekend.

And for full disclosure, let me add that I haven’t had a ticket or an accident in 20 years. To be clear, the cute little Burnette asked me about tickets, which is different than the number of times I’ve been stopped…

At the start of the new year, after 10 years of physical therapy, there was a dramatic increase and improvement in my health, my mobility and function. 1/7th of my life.

Now I’m getting 10 or 15 things done a day instead of 10 or 15 minutes of things. A high point yesterday was pulling the pressure washer out of the garage bathroom (where I store it so it won’t freeze) and tuning it up for the season.

It’s one of the El cheapo Harbor Freight electric units. When I got it, I almost immediately added a 50 foot hose to the 25 or 30 footer that came with it. That way I can leave it in one place all the time and reach just about everything I’m doing up and down the driveway. I think I’ve had it four years. The quality of the original shorter line has required me to make patches in the last couple years. The outer skin starts to crack, which reveals the nylon webbing. I’m sure if I let that go, it would burst shortly thereafter. I cut up 4-5” long piece of old reinforced fuel hose, split it, wrap it around the damage spot, and put a couple zip ties upstream, and downstream, pulled tight with a pair of pliers. Once in a while it’ll snag when I’m using the hose, but it is actually works very well. I must have five or six patches now. I’ll start hunting for a new hose for cheap.

wasn’t knocking collector insurance, my thought was it was might be my only option. Just picked up a used tire. $50 but that did include new valve stem & balance. And I know they cant sell my old one!
