What did YOU do today?

Anything is possible… it wouldn’t really be that hard to adapt a Ranger frame to the Aerostar wheelbase on set the body on it.

Correct, the Aerostar AWD didn’t have a low range. It was not 4wd.
We sold a ton of Aerostars ,especially after AWD was offered. Most of the early ones had typical 4.0 oil leaks. The first think you remove to take the engine out of an Aerostar is the rear U Joint and you end up lowering the cradle to get at the engine. It will save a ton of work nd aggravation if you find a donor and fix the Ranger. An Aerostar with the wheels removed would make a nice chicken coop.

I backed my Ranger out of the garage and ran it until it was good and warm for the first time since I parked it last month. I also ran the Mustang. I try to run them both about once a month during the winter months.

Here's one more example to reinforce my opinion that the world has gone mad. I went to the hardware store to by a bulb for the fridge and wondered how an appliance bulb can cost $10. Welllll, it turns out it is a smart-bulb that comes with an app. I don't know about the rest of society, but all I need is a $1.99 bulb that illuminates the interior of the fridge when I open the door. A light bulb with an app is of no extra benefit to me. I suppose the catch is the app monitors the bulb and sends telemetry someplace with the number of times I've opened and closed the door so they an figure out some way to monetize that data. How about I find a way to cycle that switch 24/7 and mess up their dataset. Yep, the output is only as good as the input. Garbage in, garbage out.

Also, the light bulbs are about twice as much on Amazon.

Go ahead and get one. Then open a can of sardines, and mix it with some large nuts and bolts, some pigs feet, and a couple of old Christmas ornaments in a bed pan. Then, after midnight, put your boxers on backwards, and go open the door with the snake hanging out the back like a tail.

You’ll get a couple million hits on YouTube from whoever made the bulb, and you’ll be famous, desired by the woke, and rich!

I had the bright idea of slapping new rear brake pads on mom’s Murano and then doing some re-arranging of stuff around the properties because it was nice out. Well, the caliper pins were stuck. So it turned into a fiasco when I bent a pin hammering it out. So I get to finish that tomorrow and hope it’s not raining too much to get some stuff moved

Christmas with my family is tomorrow so I picked up a couple things , sold the snow tires/winter rims that were on the hhr. The guy came up from w va to get them. Wrapped my last minute gifts & loaded the escape up for tomorrow. The prank gifts will be the best, one grandson is getting a rotary phone (phone was on his list) the other one said he wanted a dirt bike. Took awhile but found one.

Ahhhh... the prank gifts.

I kinda forgot the wife pranked me. I told her I wanted a new Bronco.

Then I told her... the sign looks to me like a permission slip.

Absolutely seems like permission to me 🙂

With LOADS of 24s ( and even some 23s) still sitting on dealer lots... Should be able to haggle yourself into some decent discounts on one! I haven't passed a Ford dealer in the past 6 months that hasn't had 10+ broncos sitting there waiting for a new home. These are smaller dealers too.. I've heard reports of large dealers within big metro areas having 30+..

I know our local dealers has had a few for months.

A new pick up just makes more sense honestly.

I'm in no hurry... with is really the best way to go new vehicle shopping.

I really think I want a cabin in Michigan more...

Yesterday the father in law and I got a good start on the shop loft... we got the support walls done and the cute little beam (6"x10"x16') in place, talked ourselves out of building the last 12' wall since the window complicates it as does the stuff in the way so we'll go with plan B that sounds pretty reasonable really... two 2x8's attached to the beams and the window frame that is also tied into the girts which I'll tie to the floor with a couple 2x4's on the sides of the window frame...

Today we took a break and went to the coast with my boss and a work boat and went crabbing and got like 18 crab, not fantastic but not bad and the inlaws had a good time (they'd never been crabbing before), I'm sure @CrabGuy understands...

I took this picture of the sun shining through a gap in the clouds and illuminating that bluff with an amber glow. The battery in the real camera was dead, so I had to use the cell phone.
It's along Hwy 49 just north of the Merced River in Mariposa County where there are old gold, chromite, and asbestos prospects on each side of the road.

Georgia has a advalorem (sp?) tax on capital assets, so there are always deals at the dealers up until the first. Of course, if you get the deal, you pay the tax, not them.

And a follow up to my tax post. My first brand new three bedroom 2 1/2 bath starter house was $41,208. I heard today that the average cost of a new car in America is 42,000 and change. I’d rather have the real estate too.

I'll work on it tomorrow hopefully, my shop is a full on disaster right now but somewhat better now that the pile of lumber has been converted to a full on loft with floor, even pulled the rat runs that were up there and moved the lights to the diagonal supports next to them to gain another foot or so of headroom (still at like 5' on the lights for now...). With the inlaws in town I'm trying to spend time with them, have to work tomorrow so maybe I'll take the time at lunch to post pics...

Today we went to Home Depot and got the two 2x8's to avoid framing another wall that would have been difficult and that worked out great, we got the plywood on the top after getting the rest of the 4x4's up there and it's super sturdy and the plywood isn't even fully attached yet...

We skipped framing for the doors since I don't have them here, my brother has spare free doors so I'll pick up a couple soon... We'll get some of the sheeting done on the outside of the rooms in the next few days but it's close to where it'll be until I get the wiring in progress...

I'm with you there! I really need to get myself an acre or so of waterfront somewhere up north.. way up north.. an hour from the closest telephone pole.. and build a little camp on it.

Somehow.. I still don't fully understand how.. the dealership i bought the bronco from sent me a refund check for the tax I paid AFTER I registered it. I'm not gonna ask too many questions because it seems real odd.. but it was certainly cashed ASAP lol.
