What did YOU do today?

With a trash can... broom... putting stuff back where it belongs... transferring several bigger things to the basement or shed.
What did you put in your trash can, what color is your broom, what stuff did you put back, what did you transfer, how do you like having a basement.

did my 30 mile bike ride in heat index of 108, yesterday. that wasn't as bad as the wind though. gusts were over 30mph and of course, a head wind the whole 15 miles home.

today will probably be the same though but i hope to get 45 miles today.

I drove the Choptop around a bunch today. Get to drive it around a bunch tomorrow too…

Also worked on cleaning out the bed of my green Ranger so it can get pulled…

Finally pulled the rest of the parts out of the block on the 5L, somehow everything looks pretty good on the stupid thing... the valve seats are just fine, intake valves are fine, exhaust valves need some touchup on the grinder for some impacted carbon buildup but otherwise fine... cam bearings are about as worn as the crank bearings so just need changed...'

Have the block flipped over to get ready for the metal work... will probably try to extract the one broken motor mount bolt tonight then call it a day, next step hopefully tomorrow will be adding material back on the motor mount bosses then grinding back down... then honing and a whole bunch of cleanup... then finally reassembly...

It’s just been club and Post meetings the last couple days and putting away the ground cloth and tent that was drying out from the Truck Nationals. So not much of note.

Today is probably going to be grass cutting and tomorrow, I’ll be helping out at the sportsman's club’s kids fishing derby. I hope one of the kids catches a fish as big as they are again this year.

I restripped my D21 for new paint. I used a flourescent orange but it didn't stick. Maybe should'a used a primer first.

Odd. You shouldn’t need to use primer if everything still has paint. What did you strip it with? It might have left a residue that prevented the paint from sticking.

Use Dawn dish soap to strip any wax from the paint, lightly scuff with fine sandpaper, tack cloth, and then prime and paint

What is your dodge vehicle that you have ? my 93 f-150 5.8 v8 4x4 tires are 14 years old and the spare is 29.

95 2500, single cab long bed, 4x4 with 8.0V10.

The tires are Goodyear Wranglers which tend to dry rot fairly quickly. I had a set that was only 5 years old that looked as bad as this one that's 27.

I will probably end up getting a set of new cooper discoverer HT tires, I have been looking around trying find a set of used tires but not having much luck.

How do you like your dodge ram 2500, what do you use that size truck for.

Why do Goodyear Wranglers dry rot quickly in your opion.

You should try firestone tires they are cool and good tires.

That's pretty hard to quantify and compare accurately. But there are several reasons.

1. The chemical makeup of the rubber used. Different parts of the tire are made with different rubber compounds. That is, the recipe of rubber, carbon black and other chemicals mixed in. It is likely that not all manufacturers use the same identical chemical recipes. Therefore, the natural AGING (what many of us call dry rot) is faster or slower on different tires.

2. The sidewalls normally contain chemical agents that inhibit the effects of UV rays from the sun. These chemicals naturally leach out and have a dull, yellowish appearance. Many people prefer shiny black sidewalls and use chemical cleaners to remove the buildup, thereby accelerating the tires demise due to UV rays.

3. Storage. How much is the vehicle parked with the tires in direct sunlight? Tires on a vehicle that is often kept in a nice cool garage, away from sunlight will last longer than my tires that are always out in the sun.

Reminder : I'm talking about a Matchbox Truck, not an actual vehicle.

Stripped it down to the metal. It's a ZAMAC blend
ZAMAK (or Zamac, formerly trademarked as MAZAK) is a family of alloys with a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminium, magnesium, and copper.

I did all of this except Primer. they're so small if you use too many coats, it starts to fill in all of the little details.
I honestly think it was the paint. I've done this many times and this was the first time I used a Flourescent spray paint, and the first time it didn't stick.

Learned something new. Baked and decorated 2 layer cakes for mom's 80th birthday. She likes to sew quilts.
