What did YOU do today?

How do you like your dodge ram 2500, what do you use that size truck for.

You should try firestone tires they are cool and good tires.

I bought it to use as a general work vehicle. I have pushed the ranger past it's limits enough times overloading it and doing heavy towing where I feel it's justified having a larger truck. I felt that a half ton would not be enough of an upgrade.

Never had firestone tires, but I have really like the coopers I've had in the past. Once I find something I like I tend to stick with it.

Holy smokes on the bear.

Gotta love a good dog...

Now you have to bring a TRS cake to our LBL trip.
I'm not so sure about that. Don't think it will travel well between Wednesday and friday.

Its been a expensive day, We officially replaced the hhr with another gm product. Brenda has always wanted one and we found this a week ago, brought it home today. A 2018 awd equinox. 1.5 turbo (gas). Very clean, hard to believe it was 30K new. The window sticker is still in the glovebox, that paint color itself was a $300-something option. Supposedly you could tow 1,500 # with it but I wouldnt with that little of a motor under the hood. I like the color, like the possibility of 30 mpg highway. Its not a bad heights to get in and out of. Ive only drove it about 30 miles.

That is a sharp color.

Got some things done on the 5.0L, took the valves to work today and ground the exhaust valves at lunch (handy having access to a valve grinder...), borrowed the cam bearing tool too. Got home and pulled the cam bearings then scraped the buildup off the bottom of the cylinder walls. While I was working on it I said screw it and honed the cylinders with a ball hone so that's done. Oh, and the first thing I did tonight was weld up the motor mount bosses, got them ground down flat so they're good to go there. On one I think I had put in a 1/2" helicoil (I'm hoping anyway) so I need to look for them if I'd bought them... the rear bolt hole is threaded bigger than 1/2"... I've tried to work on that one before in the rig so it wasn't perfect... The valve springs showed up today, cam should show up tomorrow along with the cam bearings so after some cleanup I should be able to get things moving...

Went to leave for work and as I stopped at the end of the driveway I hear this noise, Left front hubcap fell off. Weird. I love these ‘70’s styled hubcaps but this is the 2nd one of these to come off. The 1st one I never did find, in fact the one that fell off today was the fleabay replacement for the one I lost. Think I will just remove them all and put them up. Went and looked at a used equinox. 2018, turbo 1.5 gas. She loves it. It may replace the hhr thats not good for anything right now besides softner salt storage.
Just a heads up. I don't know much about them. But my wife's mom bought an Equinox new it was a 19 and 1 year of ownership it was in the shop 4 or 5 times with engine idle issues and the turbo went out. She traded it back after 1 year. Bought a Chrysler product next. Bit I know it had the 1.5 turbo as well.

I did front end work on the golf cart. That thing is so simple it’s cleaver. Last week I changed the leaf spring which is also the lower control arm. Wheels started pointing odd directions so I changed the upper arms. I musta broken up the rust holding it together.

Golf carts ARE super clever... some of them have a starter motor that doubles as the alternator/generator... thought that was super neat.

Made an ever so slight amount of progress on the squarebody, finished cutting through one of the spring hanger bolts to free the hanger from the leaf (seized bolt).. and got halfway done the other side.

Also managed to snag 7 free aluminum wheels off the side of the road.. what's scrap price nowadays?

I opened the box of brake shoes I ordered from Amazon and discovered they are not as described. I ordered Raybestos shoes with a description of "Made in Mexico" and "Riveted." They are bonded and made in China. It probably doesn't make any difference, but I prefer riveted shoes, and when given a choice, I would rather feed the taco vendors south of the border than feed the Red Dragon across the Pacific Ocean.

I think it’s around 40 cents a pound for aluminum around here. Scrap prices have been in the toilet the past couple years while new steel prices have been sky high.

That's about what I got last time I took back some aluminum sheet.. I don't know all the different grades of scrap like the back of my hand like some people but are wheels a better or lesser grade compared to sheet?
