What did YOU do today?

Took the dog with me to work since I was the only one in the building today. Figured that way I would at least have someone to talk to.

Its been a expensive day, We officially replaced the hhr with another gm product. Brenda has always wanted one and we found this a week ago, brought it home today. A 2018 awd equinox. 1.5 turbo (gas). Very clean, hard to believe it was 30K new. The window sticker is still in the glovebox, that paint color itself was a $300-something option. Supposedly you could tow 1,500 # with it but I wouldnt with that little of a motor under the hood. I like the color, like the possibility of 30 mpg highway. Its not a bad heights to get in and out of. Ive only drove it about 30 miles. View attachment 96680

I've done it in a 2001 & 1999 Honda CR-V with a NA 2.0. You just have to plan your stops and get used to not being able to accelerate all that quickly and hold the shifts longer than you normally would with a manual transmission.

I opened the box of brake shoes I ordered from Amazon and discovered they are not as described. I ordered Raybestos shoes with a description of "Made in Mexico" and "Riveted." They are bonded and made in China. It probably doesn't make any difference, but I prefer riveted shoes, and when given a choice, I would rather feed the taco vendors south of the border than feed the Red Dragon across the Pacific Ocean.

I didn't know you could even get riveted shoes anymore. I can't tell you the last time I saw some.

They are a little better about reducing brake fade if the friction material gets hot. However, I haven't experienced brake fade for many years. I think the improvements in friction materials has reduced it.

That's about what I got last time I took back some aluminum sheet.. I don't know all the different grades of scrap like the back of my hand like some people but are wheels a better or lesser grade compared to sheet?

Around here wheels are generally worth more then most other aluminum scrap.

Cool.. glad they were still there then. Between the time I saw them and the time I got them was a few hours, had the damn dog with me the first time lol.

I just put Wagner premium riveted shoes on my truck. They are still out there...

Actually... ad says China. I think I remember seeing Mexico on the box though.

Sometimes I think it’s just a matter of what factory is currently producing them. I’ve seen Moog stamped products in Autozone Duralast boxes before. Been handed two boxes with the same label that one is made in China and the other Mexico. Auto parts have really started to become a “spin the wheel and take your chances” in recent years I think.

Went to lowes with the trailer, needed 12 sheets of T11 exterior wood siding, they only had 11. got a few other pieces of wood and a sheet of 1/2 plywood. Was tying it down in the parking lot when the wind started picking up & tornado warning was issued. Glad I took the escape, better brakes, more horsepower. 1/2 way home it starts raining hard. Get home & back into the garage, not easy when theres just 6” clearance between the trailer tires & doorway. 15 min later its sunny & humid. Hook the tractor to the trailer & pull it around back. Got the shorter sides put up then decided to call it a day. When I got inside and watched the news I found out there was a tornado just down the road from me, about a mile away.
