I fixed my tailgate latch/release mechanism for the umpteenth time. I wish there was an upgrade kit for this.

Turns out the rear shaft yoke holes are just too loose and the caps were spinning and it spit out the snap ring... I decided to just change the joint in the driveway with the company of about 900 bazillion mosquitoes apparently (+/-6), went fine, only one roller fell over when I was putting the caps on and it was the first one so easy... After I get the camper drained and off I'll pull the rear shaft and do a little welding on those straps to tighten them up (I hear making a bead around the outside will shrink them, simple enough).over the years I have had a couple U joints that seemed too wide to let the caps set properly.
that includes bashing on the cross both ways to fully seat the caps against the clips.
there are U joints that have internal clips, I've not compared the exact dimensions.

Also drug home a pallet of 3' 2x4's from work that are part of engine pallets, there were apparently 200 of them on there, the '97 Ranger knew it was there... they're useful sometimes, have like 6 staples in each but they come out easy enough and free is free...
Yeah, Ford and their never ending lists of U joints... 1310 is a small cross and small caps (common in Rangers and such), 1330 is small caps and big cross (1/2 ton stuff) and 1350 is big caps and big cross (heavy duty stuff). By loose caps I mean like 0.010" gap from years of running U joints with inadequate grease for the rollers...found this list of U joint sizes
it appears 1330 and 1350 are very similar but have different cap diameters. so confusion has been invited to the party.
1350 is stronger than 1330

Our gas prices are crazy right now. They drop to 2.59 to 2.69 a gallon through the week the shoot up to around 3.00 every weekend. Then gradually climb down then shoot right back up haha.I filled up the Missing Linc with $2.79 regular gas today! It has been level around 309 or 315 for a while. I was about 30 miles east of me in Loganville Georgia where I found the 279.

woo hoo!
When I started driving back to Atlanta, I passed a place that was 269, and then one that was 265.
edit: east
