looks good to me as long as the factory wiring is stout enough to power all the floods without overloading (when backing up), and you put in big enough wiring to power everything from the switch (which shouldn't be that big a deal since 2 little bulbs is nothin especially if LED)

Will this work?

When I built the Road Ranger, I added rear facing flood lights, wired to the reverse lights, but also added a toggle switch in the overhead console. All lights come on with either switch.

I want to add a reverse buzzer/back up beeper that only works from the reverse switch on the transmission. If I add a buzzer with a diode as indicated, will it work?

Afterthought. I have a buzzer, but it just buzzes, it doesn’t beep. Can I use a turn signal flasher in the circuit to make it beep? If a regular old flasher won’t work, I have one of the three prong electronic flashers that have come out for LEDs because they don’t draw enough amperage to trigger the old-fashioned flasher.

hey, and if I use a flasher and a relay, can I make it beep my train horns? That’ll get them out-of-the-way….

That's the new "white noise" thing... industrial beepers are a dumb thing, they had to get loud enough to be louder than the equipment they are on requiring hearing protection so they just got louder to the point that everyone ignored them so then they changed the tone to the scratchy white noise units... it's still complicated and dumb but with the beaurocracy of OSHA it will only get dumber... I like to simplify things but in a complicated way (you guys like Rangers, you understand) and that particular problem isn't my kind of thing and with the week I've had so far I'm not going to think about it yet

I'd like to say that it will be done tomorrow, but I'm back to the doctor for more eye injections. I won't be able to wrench for a couple of days after and I don't know how much dad will try to take the initiative on it. Honestly, I'm not sure if I want him to or not.

Injections went well. Still won't be able to make progress on the truck tomorrow, but should be back at it after work on Friday. Mom was chauffeuring me for the eye injections (not a good idea to drive after) so hung out over there for a while, even though most of it was spent in the recliner with my eyes closed.

Dad took the initative today and kept the ball rolling. He got the PS exhaust ready to reinstall with the new hanger setup. Then got the muffler hanger for the DS pipe attached and got the tail pipe tacked back into the muffler.

Before I left we hooked the smoke tester up on the PS side pipe to give it a better look and found another leak that needed to be welded, a spot they missed between the muffler and the pipe, and realized that the flange welde on this one was just as back as the DS and would have ended up leaking too. All easy stuff to fix out of the truck.

At this rate he'll have all of it finished tomorrow, or at least by the time I get off work friday. Looks like Friday afternoon or Saturday I'll finish reinstalling the leafsprings (swapping shackles and tightening bolts), and have it back on the wheels.

Woohoo! New License plates and seat cover showed up!!

I gor carhart seat savers because i previously had them in my titan. They are expensive but prptect your seats from spills, fading, and all kinds of daily wear anf tear. They are heavy duty and they seem to sew them up when you put in your order because it takes a little while to get to you, but so worth it.

Looks good to me too, but you may need/want to add a relay for the buzzer that is triggered by the backup switch. That backup light circuit was onily intended to power the backup lights, and you are already adding a load to it with the flood lights. The buzzer might be too much. Even if the wire can handle it the switch itself might not like the extra load.

I guess I want to do something similar with my horns. I've got remote start installed on the Kia. Horn power goes through the remote start system and fused there in addition to the factory fuse. Don't like the horns sounding when I remote start at 6 AM, especially after I upgraded the horns. Have the fuse pulled from the remote start to prevent thatm but it also disables the steering wheel horn button. I don;t want to dig into the car's wiring and rewire, but I want my horn button and no horn with remote start. I'm investigating if there is way I can tap into the fuse location to add a remote switch with an inline fuse. Turn off the horn when I'm planning to remote start, but hagve it turned on while driving. I've seen something similar to what I'm thinking about for some sore of GM towmode trickery, I'm just trying to locate the parts to DIY.

on the horn:

Do you see the little chain hanging down on the left? That pulls a little lever that I fabricated that pushes down on a push button switch when I pull it. That goes through a relay which powers up the two little air compressors (I need two) which blows my train horns!

Forget what you’re thinking, and go with the pull chain in the train horns! You WON’T regret it!
