What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Nice I love it.
How much do the fender stick out compared to the stock ones on the 87 302 swapped?
Also what kind of wheel and tire are you running on the 302 swapped one?

I think you’re talking about the OD green fiberglass bulge fenders? They were 6” flares and the only issue I had with them, was when I maxed out on articulation while turning, the 35’s would grab the bottom of the fender where it bolted to the cab. I broke them so many times I just took them off. I originally had 35” bfg KM 2’s. Then a set of 38” swamper boggers and now I have Interco truxus MT’s. I really liked the boggers but they kept breaking the D44. Now I have a D60 but sold the boggers and had to go to a larger rim which is why I have the Truxus mt’s. They’re a fantastic tire. really good in the snow when aired down.

So almost 1k later...... I'm on track for fixing the ranger and returning it to service....

Might as well get ready for the Trickflow heads and 30lb injectors..... and dyno tuning.

What the hell is the factory wax/tar all over this thing? Any way to clean it off chemically?
My entire frame was also coated in that black tar stuff, so I know your pain. Unfortunately cleaners alone weren't enough to remove it because it was caked on so thick. I had to use paint scrapers to scrape off the bulk of the material, and then I sprayed the remainder with POR cleaner/degreaser and used steel wire brushes to brush the frame down to the bare steel. It took me several full days underneath the vehicle cleaning, scraping, washing, and brushing to remove that stuff from the frame, and it was a nightmare.

I don't want to lose my radio settings... and I keep meaning to find the draw... Maybe I'll borrow the DC amp clamp meter from work for next weekend... I'm stubborn, I've thought about doing that though :)

I'll think about getting a picture later but today I decided to tackle the tailgate on the '97 since it got rearended a few months ago... it wouldn't close with the linkages dragging so I needed to monkey with it... It actually straightened out better than I expected, the two dents in the bottom from their tow points are still there since you can't get to the bottom from the inside, I've got some thoughts, that's a project for another day. I was going to get another tailgate but now I'm rethinking it...

Xylene. Takes it right off. Should have updated.

Wouldn’t the f150 bronco frame be a little big?

It will be a little bit wider, and heavier which is what I’m looking for to fix clearance issues with the headers, radiator and help align the coils. I’ll end up having to modify the cab mounts but that’s not a problem. The over all length might be a little shorter than the ranger cab, but I’m not worried about that. My bed is too short for the ranger frame anyways.

today i added tail gate trim to my 91 using some self tapers because my tailgate is off a base model and it never had trim.

i'm still looking for the missing letters if anyone has them and willing to sell them let me know.

Here's a picture of after I straightened the tailgate some, I apparently don't have a before pic handy...

So Friday I spent a few hours at my mechanic buddies place, did drum brakes on dad’s 99. Wheel cylinders, shoes, springs, drums. Found a leaky axle seal but it isn’t really bad yet so it will wait till spring. Saturday was a rain day. Went up yesterday and replaced the one bad brake line and the bad spring shackle. Maybe I can get back to my green one now.

Looking to do a grill switch on my 91 ranger want to go from the 1989-92 to a 1983-88 grill, anyone know if it’s just bolt on or any parts I’ll need?

I ran the battery flat on my ‘07 last night, for the second time, leaving the aftermarket heated seat cushion on.

I picked up a spare new battery to keep in reserve.
