What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I installed electric seats with bun warmers and my wife killed my battery twice so I in stalled relays on the heated seat part. Hasn't been a problem since, it will help save your battery.

Looking to do a grill switch on my 91 ranger want to go from the 1989-92 to a 1983-88 grill, anyone know if it’s just bolt on or any parts I’ll need?

Totally different front ends... you would have to basically change the entire front clip.

No heated seats until 2019 I believe. But there's bunches of aftermarket kits you could install in whatever you wanted.

The first gen Explorer grills fit with no modifications if you just want a different look. 83-88 grills are an entire front piece, total different design, to change to that you would have to change everything. Hood, fenders, bumper, grill, stone guard under the grill, headlights, marker lights, turn signals, core/radiator support…

If you want to change things up even more the Explorer Limited grilles are extra rare and even more differenter... I have one floating around if I get to feeling froggy for the '90...

The front angle of the hood is different, bumper is different and mounts different, fenders are different and there are some slight differences in the core support but I don't think those are too bad...

See my post. You need the entire front clip. Core support (welded in) needs replaced. They are similar, but if I remember right, there is a height difference for hood clearance and the 89-92 core support doesn’t have the right mounting points for everything. I looked into this years ago wanting to change my choptop to the older style and even collected most of the parts, but I ended up putting an Explorer grille in and calling it good. The wheel openings are different in the fenders and I’d either have to lift the truck more, cut the fenders, or run smaller tires.

With difficulty, loosened tail gate latch strike plate screws to move strike plate rearwards because latch wasn't engaging. Then finally found the problem was worn rubber bushing that surrounds latch itself in the assembly, when worn or moves out of place it allows the latch to move rearwards thus preventing it from engaging strike plate. Only reasonable solution to fix is new latch, not expensive, and easy to swap, so will put on list of parts needed. Meanwhile it is at least latched for now. Not having one side latching was really bothering me, you could spring the gate carrying firewood like that.

Hopefully that modern driveline kit holds up this clutch was a lil more then the last one.....

My alternator was showing signs of giving up the ghost. I got it almost exactly a year ago -- a rebuilt Ultron from O'Reilly's. The symptoms were: battery light remained illuminated regardless of the engine speed, though sometimes it would flicker if I blipped the throttle. Even worse, the system voltage at idle would drop to 12.6 if I turned on the headlights. Thankfully it was under warranty. Took about a half hour to replace. Works fine now. Voltage is rock steady and that annoying red warning light is off.
Don't need a dead battery tomorrow morning trying to get to work on time!
