What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

It's probably T27, Ford liked those... but could be T25 too... I don't think it's smaller than that but I've never played with a FM trans...

That would be a "Parking Brick"... but unless it's running you can just use first gear, that's what I've done forever, hitting the parking brake pedal is awkward so I just don't unless I'm on a hill...

Thank you. I’m like 15 plus miles off the pavement in 2 foot of snow. I was gonna have the wife bring me tools to try to fix it and we’d tow it out as plan B. But then I remembered she’s 8 months pregnant and I don’t want to take a chance. So She’s waiting at the trailhead while a buddy comes to pick me up in a SxS. Ill come back in my truck to work on it tomorrow morning and see if he’ll drive it out for me.

I don’t remember what size the bolts are. I do remember driving my F-150 like 20 miles home shifting using nothing more than the stub coming up out of the ZF-5 when the bolts holding the shifter on decided to shear off

That must have been a huge pita! I remember messing with my ZF and trying to shift it without the shifter on it. Way too stiff for my feminine hands.

There is a couple jokes in there that are inappropriate for this section of the forum...

It was… interesting. Everything was good and hot from driving it so I put a mechanic glove on my right hand and went at it. Even with my long arms and man hands it was still a riot. I was praying for green lights and thankful that the 4.9 doesn’t care too much what gear the ZF-5 is really in, so there was a bit of start in second and shift to 4th.

Well I had to break down and schedule my first tow. If it wasn’t for the location and my lack of time before I have to go back to work until after Christmas, I’d get it home myself. But the transmission is locked up in 2 foot of snow, 12 miles from the asphalt in the mountains. I’m hoping they can get it out lol.

Funny story, my 2008 GMC has less rust.

I need a bed.

Uphill both ways, barefoot?

That’s not that bad... I’d just fix it.
I want to, but cant find a set of bed supports.

The fenders are completely fine, same with sides.

Supports everywhere for F series. Just not Ranger

Take dimensions to a fab shop. Have them bend up some stock. Then you cut to length and install. A shop that does ductwork should be able to do that.
