What did you do to your 2019 and up Ranger today?

State inspection. Shockingly at 87,000 miles the OE front brakes still passed.
I've never had a vehicle that got more 45k out the front brakes in hilly Pennsylvania.
Go buy a full size Transit… you’ll only get 20-25K miles out of the rear brakes.

Had the rears replaced on the Ranger two years ago but only because the caliper sliders stuck and the inner pads on both sides wore out but the outers were fine. Apparently it's a common problem on these.

I've found that I have to stay on top of keeping the pins lubed on the rear calipers of both trucks or they start binding up pretty quickly.

Bitch'n! Yeah bitch'n.

Hit and run, Friday night 28 February 2025 while parked in a very dark parking lot near a car wash. Of course what to expect here in Colorado.

Witnesses thought only the rear bumper was hit. That would have caused no permanent damage since I built that rear bumper out of a 6” wide steel channel iron.

Now 2 March 2025 in full daylight I can see the extensive damage primarily to the left side of the fiberglass bed. Shredded the left rear fender. Bent in the fiberglass near the cab. Also dinged the paint at the rear left corner of the cab.

Reported to insurance company. I do have insured motorist coverage and rental car coverage but what a nuisance.

Wouldn't be so bad but I had to have that same fender fixed from a Home Depot parking lot back in 2015.

I finally found out where the speed limiter on our (at least on my ‘23) ‘19-23’s is… it’s 109 MPH in case anyone wants to know.

Now what are you going to do?

Back to the shop for a new left upper ball joint to pass inspection.
That would be the same ball joint that I tore the boot trying to put the leveling kit on, so it's not exactly a surprise.
It does seem to ride better.

You'd think with all the dash display stuff that it would tell me when a headlight is burned out.

Random teenager walking down my street as I’m waxing my truck today:
“Sir, you’ve got the cleanest truck in Rochester.”
Me: “Thanks man, I do my best.”

Pulled the engine…

I think a coyote will fit in there.

Did the first 3k mile oil change in the brand new 2024 2.3 ecoboost ranger. Not nearly as bad as people make it out to be, really, not bad at all. To me, very similar to chnaging rhe oil on the 3.0 in my 04.

First thing, you need a small step stool because they don't make trucks any kind of normal height anymore.

And this is not a lot of pictures kind of deal. Everyone has done oil changes. I am just showing qhere to out your hand for the easiest shot to the oil filter.

Ok, next, i tried to get the filter off but the dang factory torqued that sucker down so tight i couldn't get it to budge. I ended up getting some filter pliers and breaking it loose and than i could spin it off.

Ok, first, i tried with my right hand and my elbow and wrist just dont bend the correct way so ince i changed to the left arm, all was well. Anyways, you see where to go right down between everything to get to the filter.

There you see the left hand can grab properly. You tilt the filter and it slides right out. There is a cool little tray snd oil chute, like i think the 3.0 has, that drains the oil away so it doesn't get on everything.

And the bottom has a plastic splash shield like all cars have now. You take off four 14mm bolts and loosen two 14mm and the splash shield slides out the back so can take off the 14mm drain plug.

All goes just like any other vehicle and it takes soething like 5.3 quarts of 5w-30 to fill up. Some odd amount.

Anyways, to reset the oil life meter in the computer, you go to the vehicle settings using the right steering wheel buttons and hold ok to reset and than you are good to go.

And i found a cool gauge cluster screen setting called off road. I have a 2wd so i was surprised the off road screen works but it gives me gauges for oil pressure, trans temp, and i think boost pressurr but maybe its hurricanes in the area?

I like the trans temp for when towing

Temps been in the 70's this week so I halfway de-winterized it.
Took off the winter wiper blades (yes there is such a thing) and put new regular blades on.
After two winters the Trico Ice blades were getting streaky anyway.
Ordered Redline gear lube for the axles.
Tomorrow I'll probably take out the sandbags and the deck I built to cover them. Pick up a little mpg.
In other news, someone ran a red light and smashed the right rear of my wife's minivan. Quarter panel, bumper cover, and the right rear wheel has some serious negative camber.

Granted, the engine bay is a bit bigger with the 2024 models but with the 2019 - 2023 Rangers, the only way to get at the oil filter with them is through the driver's side wheel well.
