What did you do to your 2019 and up Ranger today?

Did pick up a basket off Marketplace for $30. Hopefully I can get it on today. Should look better than just sitting on some metal rails. I'll get some pictures later after installation

I took advantage of the break in the rain to get a few more things done to the 2019 and just barely got a couple of pictures before the next rain came in.

Did an oil change with royal purple yesterday. Second one on the new truck. I was able to do it from under the truck instead of having to get a small ladder and reach for the filter from the top. The first time i did it the same way i do the 3.0 filter in the 04 ranger, from the top, since it has the same drain tray and i couldnt easily see a way to reach the filter from the bottom. I layed under there and actually looked around yesterday.

Today i changed the longer antenna for a cravenspeed stubby antenna since i have seen some pics of people's antenna/gps mounts getting ripped off in the car wash. I don't want that to happen to me.

I also installed a remote start kit from startx. Same company i have kits on the wife's 2019 wrangler, her 2018 mazda3, and my son's previous 05 mazda6. Their kits are plug and play with no cutting and they use the factory fobs so you dont have extra stuff in your pocket. It worked perfectly, just like i expected it too once i finished installing and doing the tiny programming it tells you to do.

Actually my daily commute is about 20 miles each way plus most days I have to drive to our other facility near the city which is about 13 miles each way.
I average about 400 miles a week. This is why I don't get a tuner and buy premium gas.

The 2019 is about the same, thanks to the girlfriend running the ever living crap out of it doing mainly home healthcare stuff while her car was broke.

It is coming due for new front brakes and I want to proactively take care of the spark plugs and some other stuff that will be coming due at 100,000 miles before the Vagabond trip. If the replaced items still look decent enough to keep as emergency spares, I'll find a place for them for the trip.

New spark plugs today at 66,500 miles. Easier than I was expecting. All "old" plugs looked identical and normal.

Some notes:
1) You only need to remove the wire harness from the forward 3 cylinders when pulling the Coil Pack out of the way. The rear cylinder CP does need the wire harness removed to pull the CP off the plug.

2) As a precaution, I always use a thin film of Nickle based anti-seize on the plug threads. YMMV

Front rotors and pads, spark plugs and boots, belts, tensioner, and idler pulley, 50/50 mix coolant, and a spare cabin filter have been ordered. It's a bit early for the 100,000 mile changes but there is a couple for trips coming up, and if the replaced parts are in decent enough shape, they will go in the spares bin. I do still need to order a engine air filter. I figure I'll be changing both the cabin and engine air filter after the first trip, but a change may be required during the trip depending on how dry and dusty things are.

Looking at my repair records, I'm surprised I haven't replaced the front pads and rotors yet. Definitely no complaints in that department.

The wife and i got 24mpg on two tanks and one tank at 25mpg driving from corpus christi to omaha. Cruise was set at 81mph

Found out the 4x4 ranger rides significantly stiffer then the 2wd. My son's 24 stx versus my 24 stx

Rear pads were replaced at state inspection around 50k only because the caliper sliders stuck and wore out the inner pads.
I caved and got a K&N air filter last year. Cost a little more but I'll never have to buy another one. Walmart.com had a good price.

Rear pads were replaced at state inspection around 50k only because the caliper sliders stuck and wore out the inner pads.

My rear brakes were replaced last year. More because the rear discs catch all the road spray from the front tires, which accelerates corrosion of the discs and wears out the pads faster.

As far as the pins, they only way I've found to keep the operating properly is to clean, inspect and relube them every spring and fall. I also clean up any corrosion and dirt build up in the grooves under the caliper bracket hardware to prevent rust jacking binding the pads. Those spots get a light coating of brake grease as well.

Isn't living in the rust belt great???

Haha. I sprayed mine off with the preasure washer. I changed my front brakes right after the anniversary gathering. Only to discover they were fine. So found it was the rear brakes squealing. So replaced them. Rotors looked fine no groves or vibrations. I have never greased the pins on my brakes. Never really had an issue with them. They have little rubber boots over mine. It's seen a lot and I mean a lot of water crossings and deep mud. Granted we get snow and roads salted. No where near like you guys. I do notice a lot of rusted rockers around. Just assume they bought a northern car. But I have never had a glide pin drag down here. Hold on. I need to go find something wooden to knock on haha
