looks like a bunjie rope. my biggest fear isnt the rope but the people who dont use common sense and who miss use the rope like attaching it and taking off and the rope snaping and hurting someone

I got some samson line from an uncle that worked for the coast guard, came off on of their vessels
it's a good 2 inchs thick.....i'll just hook it up to someone, back up as far as i can to em, and take off(not pedal to the floor), it'll yank anyone out as long as the rig pullin is big enough, and i've never worried about it snapping

i've seen rigs get pulled out with crab rope, not much more than half an inch thick, without it snapping
that rope looks and sounds pretty capable to me

That depends greatly on what the rope is made from....

If it were made from say... Spectra? That skinny ass looking rope would
tear frame pieces off of a pair of semi's playing tug of war

Spectra is approx 2-1/2 times stronger than Kevlar...

I just throw a good tow rope or strap on, and just pull slowly till it tenses up, then just accelerate as they gun it. Less wear on my truck

Whats the joke?

You don't wanna pay $90 for a decent recovery strap/rope?

Or it's not a decent rope? Looks decent to me... better than the $30 fred meyer one I got... yeah I always have a towel with me when I use it...

i bought a reese tow strap from wal-mart for $25 and that was probably one of the $25 i've ever spent. it's been used to tow my truck home, to the tranny shop, as well as pull other trucks, including mine, out of a stuck spot without a problem.

I got one from Somewhere too but it isn't the best I can pull out decent sized trucks but it always feels likes its gonna break and the hooks are too small to do any real good, it does its job for what I use it for though. I want one of those ones used for semis.

the keeper recovery straps are around $40 at any parts store. anyone have experience with them? they come up to like 6" wide and 30' in length, down to 2" wide

Anyone see the bungee tow ropes on the North Pole Top Gear? The recovery truck was hauling some serious ass when pulling the other truck out...

I have seen them but they don't seem worth it to me, or atleast the ones I have seen only have a 5,000lb limit not sure if thats shock limit or max capacity though...

the keeper straps? you must be talking about the TOW straps. the ones im talking about had a 26,000lb breaking strength with a 12,000 snatch capacity at just 2" wide. these ones are clearly labeled RECOVERY STRAP and do not have metal hooks on the ends. only $40

i planned on getting one for my 3/4 ton 4x4 and wouldn't consider getting something weak.

I'm talking about the same ones, they say keeper recovery straps, and have doubled over loops and stuff. They have heavier ones but the only ones I have seen were 5 maybe 10,000lbs max. they were also 2" wide max. the 4" ones were 25,000 i think....

hmm? this was about 1 year ago that i saw it. i guess it could have been the 3" one but i know i was interested in it because of those numbers compared to the price. maybe they have changed

maybe you should investigate the product before calling it a joke.
