What’s it this part?

Started truck drove it. Still problem. Unplugged the tps while running and motor drops rpms for a sec and can back to normal idle. Drove home still problem. Going to pull codes with engine off first. Then engine on. With tps still unplugged.

Basically a noise filter

..the shiny cap critter.

I still don't understand what engine, ecu, and wiring you have. Sounds all mixed up from different years and quite possibly different engines.

What year is the engine, what year is the ecu, what year is the wiring harness and which match what? Things changed...

Original truck 89' 2.9 manual supercab 4x4. The Motor and all harness's under the hood are off the same donor truck, which was 91 4.0 auto 2wd, The dash was out of a different 91 4.0 auto 2wd, and all other chassis electrical/lights are from the original truck/frame which is 89 2.9 manual 4x4. And the ECU/PCM is new/ refurbished from parts geek.com for a 91 4.0 manual 4x4.

I am still driving.

I swapped from 2.9 to 4.0. But if you have any info or ideas on my current situation ill def call you.

Put the 2.9 back in it.

Problem solved.

My 4.0 is on the scrap pile. I pee on it. That's their value to me.

Well. They have parts that apply to 2.9, so not totally worthless.....

Here's the one question I may have missed

Did the engine run fine BEFORE and is this bogging a NEW thing?
Or is this part of final swap diagnostics?

I still can't see a 1991 4.0l PCM needing a MAP sensor????

The 4.0 motor came out of a truck that was being scrapped, it had low compression in 2 cylinders and only idled. I got it free and sent it out to a machine shop to be machined and re built, motor, heads, everything, Only old parts on the motor are the parts with plugs, MAF, TPS, crank sensor, etc. The motor was installed in my 89 and has the engine harness, driver side and passenger main harness from the donor 91 ranger 4.0 auto 2wd. The ECU/PCM is refurbished from parts geek.com for a 91 4.0 manual 4x4. Motor starts, idles and revs up perfect, but when driving it Boggs around 2000-3000 RPM. 3rd gear seems to bog at 2000, 1 and 2 3000-3500.
