but no luck:annoyed:
well not really at least

checked out this one:
http://nh.craigslist.org/ctd/1730403179.html

We got there and they had dropped the price $1000 already to $5900. sweet. So we get out to check it out (in the pouring rain) and it wasnt quite a good as advertised...
-it needs new tires. the way they're worn they'll pass new hampshire inspection, but not mass which is no good to me
-its gonna need a rear leaf spring hanger replaced, but thats expected. one was already replaced.
-We start it and guess what, the check engine lights on!:icon_surprised: They said they'd take care of it.
Butttt...
-It was really clean. Interior was immaculate. no rust on body, only surface rust on the frame.
-It had a really nice kenwood headunit and speakers. Granted I already have my own but this one looked much nicer. I wished i grabbed the model #.

I still want the truck. Just gotta wait to hear what happens with the whole cel thing and hope they still have it next saturday.

Looked at a few others while we were out. Saw a nice '03 that was already sold for $5900 and a few other various trucks, none really what i was looking for. We did however see a 98-00 ranger for $8900:icon_surprised: needless to say, we didn't stop for that one.

try privately owned used auto dealers, or in new jersey =P

they were all small used car lots on the same stretch of road. We only went to see this one but ended up finding like 5 more while we were up there. My problem is time, i have none. I had to work 12-9:30 today so i only had a few hours this morning to look

Try buying a car magazine from the store, the sales ones, they are loaded with interesting buys. In fact, there was a Bronco Custom sold in one of mine that there was only 15 of them made! (went for $11,500)

I have, I'm just being really really picky about what I want. Honestly, If the check engine light wasn't on i probably would've bought this one yesterday.

I would make sure the ball joints are good still they can be a pain to replace also try to low ball them big time

Personally i'd check the codes before i forked over the cash. Hopefully they fix it and don't just pull the light.
Assuming it can be pulled like an ABS light. had that issue with a '99 F150 i had :annoyed:

Best bet for any used vehicle, is getting to know the owner a little (like going out to lunch or a drink to talk about the truck, so you see whether or not he is a ripoff). You also get pretty good friends that way too.

Always good to network! =D

Well they cant inspect it unless its fixed, and they say it'll come new hampshire inspected. Ill have to look into nh inspection to make sure

Its at a used car lot, was a trade it. Apparently the former owner traded it in for a lifted nissan. doesn't do me much good

He emailed me back, code was misfire on cylinder 3. you guys think its as simple as a plug or wire like the guy says?

they said they hooked it up to a scope and concluded it was a plug or wire, i assume by irregular voltage on that cylinder. I really like the truck, but my dad thinks we can do better(He wants me to find a 2002 with a little over 100,000mi for like $6000) Anyways, what do you guys think? Should I progress with this one or pass it by and keep looking?

I would buy mine. lol

Sure, if you wanna sell me it for $7000:icon_thumby:

In a year or two I will if it's still here. For now 1500 under blue book private party seems fair.
