I was driving by the local Ford dealership today when I saw an early-mid 90's ranger sitting to the side of the lot. I pulled in and checked it out. It is a 94 xlt extracab 4wd. This thing has always been in a garage. There are no dents, dings, scratches, nothing! The inside of the bed even looks new. So I go talk to a salesman about it and guess what? Not for sale. It is part of the cash for clunkers program and scheduled for crushing. I tried to get them to sell me some parts, but that wasn't happening either. That really sucks. The truck really looks like it was well taken care of. The salesman said it runs great, only 78,000 miles on it.

You should of asked him what salvage yard they are selling it to. That way you could go there to buy parts off it. The salvage yard would be able to sell you everything off it except the engine and cab.

I'm gonna go back today and find out what yard it's going to. I wish I was a car thief. That truck is just sitting there at a downward angle, unlocked. It would be so easy to put it in neutral and shove it on to a car dolly.

i say do it, afterall your taxes have paid for it.

well where are u located, im free to jack cars tonight. seriously...

That is sad...but I'd just swipe it and leave mine there...maybe paint yours green and put graffitti on it and when you swap yours in they'll think someone vandalized the good one...

Might work...:)

It's not just that fact that there is a perfectly good ranger there, there are several nice trucks and explorers. One of the trucks is a 93 F150 4wd short bed flare side. Man I would love to have that! I have a 72 F100 2wd short bed with a twisted frame. I could change the bodies around and have a killer 72. To the guy that is willing to go jack cars, I'm in Missouri.

you should take the truck and then park one of the new cars in its place.

If it still runs, it is still considered a car. It legally hasn't been totaled yet until the dealership gets the $$ from Uncle Sam and they do the dirty deed.

Since the dealership can get a $25,000 fine if that truck pops back up in general circulation in running condition, you can bet they will miss it.

I do know a guy clunkered a pretty decent Nissan pickup at a local dealership. The next day his buddy was trading part for part with his identical but more "used" pickup, he got most of the interior, wheels and bedliner out of it right on the dealership lot with their permission.

damn thats a little bit of a hike. if you were closer id say id be there in a bout 8 hrs with a flatbed wrecker and you could have your choice of "clunkers"

:icon_rofl:i second that boosting cars that are gonna get crushed isnt stealing we can leave them 20 bucks for it that way its just buying stolen good not near as bad a jail sentence

I have a photo on my phone of a 2002-2003 explorer (new body style) red explorer in the CFC lot.

Will have to download to show yall.
