Anybody that has good welding shots take some pics.

This was today when my buddy bet $300 I couldn't do it without burning through the cans. Cans were full to make it even harder.

This was how I got my job as a contractor for NUCOR in Charleston SC..... Left these at the desk with my business card.

This is 1/16" stainless. Ive done soda cans too, I wish I had pics but I don't. Its not too hard to weld the bases together. A real challenge is to cut a can in half and weld the halves back together.

A cold MIG weld. 1/4" to 1/4".

Stick, 6010 root, 7018 fill and cap. 5/8" plate, overhead open V groove, 1/8" root face and 1/8" root opening. 3/8" test coupons cut and submitted to a side bend test. Passed with zero imperfections.

where are the pics of you welding.

I would show some pics of my stick welds, but I don't want to make everyone here feel bad! :icon_twisted:

This thread could use some humor, so I'll post some pics of my bubble gum looking stick welds...

These are some brackets I made to go from steel tubing to rubber hose when I converted to disc brakes on the rear axle.

Lincoln AC225
6011 rod, who knows what diameter
no surface prep
who knows what amperage either

Anyway...

And the axle they were on...

You rock! Thanks for the humour. You're right, this thread definitely needed some :icon_thumby: and oh yeah :icon_welder: LOL

Found it!!! This was my first successful attempt at welding two cans together, from about a year and a half ago. Miller Syncrowave 350, AC, 35 amps, 3/32" pure tungsten electrode, 3/32" 4043 fill rod. Ill have to weld up another one, see how much my skills have inproved over the last year.

Here is some titanium. 6AL 4V. We don't have the proper setup at school to weld titanium, but we got to play with it anyways. At the very least you need to use a gas lens, but should be welded in an incubation chamber. A proper titanium weld should have a silver or a straw color.

Ok, boys, here is the humor for the thread. First up for your amusement is from when I removed the AIR injection on my 92 Z34 and welded the ports shut on the cast iron exhaust manifolds and then painted them with some rattle can ceramic paint:

I would submit for your laughing pleasure a pic of my "replacement passenger side rear cab mount" but I can't find it at the moment. I used oxy/acet. on both welding "jobs". The cab mount was 3" wide and 1/4" thick flat steel that I cut and welded into a 90* bracket that I bolted to the frame. I'm actually shocked it's still in one piece because I am far from what I would call being able to weld. Oh yeah, I took a shift lever out of my 92, cut it in two, removed a 1 inch section from it and welded it back together with the same cutting torch/welding setup to make it a short throw shifter, and surprisingly that thing is still in one piece as well. I did get new cab mounts on ebay and plan on installing them soon since the drivers side took a dump now (stupid rust belt...) so I could snap a pic then if you need more to laugh at since I'm self/book taught and all.
